In the meantime Brandon Staley, the guy I was hoping we would target after moving on from Nagy and Pace in January, is looking pretty decent in LA, beating Mahomes and the Chiefs....
I'm with you. We even have Staley as a mascot. It was a sign.
Thanks, malagabears for posting this in the other thread... I included this tweet here because it nails this I think here:
After this week, he is not prepared and they are going back to Dalton asap. This was a laughable failure on all levels, coaching, ol play, wr play, te play, qb play.
Anyone who thinks "Fields isn't ready" or that "Dalton would have won the game" doesn't know that the hell they're talking about. Tom Brady couldn't have won that Bears game today. Dalton wouldn't have done much differently than Fields.
I keep saying this over and over--there was no "getting ball out quicker" thing today! NO ONE WAS GETTING ANY SEPARATION AT ALL. There was no one to throw to, even short and underneath.
It was a clown school performance by the Bears recievers and especially by their blockers. They got completely trucked from start to finish.
I definitely understand the argument for trotting out Dalton... and if the OL is really this bad then maybe save Fields from the certain injury he's going to get sooner rather than later this season playing on this crap offense. I wanted very much to see Fields play and learn this year, even if we lose a lot of games. But I have to be honest and ask myself if he can learn anything playing on an offense built by Pace and coached by Nagy? Maybe. Maybe not. I'm not dissing anyone who thinks we should put Dalton out there and let him get injured and save Fields if we can - until we hire the new GM and HC here... people who actually have a clue.
Not directed at you personally, JABF, this is just a general frustration with the moves/non-moves made by the organization:
Where the hell was this late last season? I distinctly remember saying a rebuild was needed, starting with Pace & Nagy, and all I heard in response was a bunch of excuses like
All GMs have misses Nagy has a winning record We made the playoffs! Pace took over a dumpster fire Nagy kept the team together They just need one more shot with a new QB
January was the time to bring in a new regime as it was obvious a new QB was coming (whether in 2021 or '22 draft). Instead, ownership cowardly punted and kept these two clowns on.
Nagy hasn't shown he can run a quality NFL offense in now his 4th year--How many more tries do you wanna give him? Pace hasn't shown he can compile a roster that can compete with top teams in his 7th year--How many more drafts do you wanna give him? How many years of Fields rookie contract do you wanna squander trying to pound a square peg into a round hole with these two losers?
Dalton comes back to what? 100 extra yards and barely topping 200 total yards for the game? At least he'll be a meat shield for Fields.
+1
And I'd add that no matter who starts at QB (Dalton, Fields or Foles) they are going to last a few games and get injured. I absolutely guarantee that this will happen. We could very easily see all 3 QBs start this season due to injuries. I'm not saying it MAY happen. I'm saying "book it" because it is going to happen.

I'll give you another thing you can "book" and take to the bank. I'm 100% sure of it at this point.
The reason Nagy went through this ridiculous "Dalton is our starter" charade nonsense is NOT because Fields 'wasn't ready'. It was because Nagy wanted to use Dalton as a buffer for as long as possible. He knew once Fields came in, he'd be out of excuses and quickly exposed as the fraud he is.

BOOK IT
The national sports media is roasting Pace, Nagy and the Bears right now. Pace & Nagy's seats are white-hot now.
So apparently Jim Miller on postgame said he saw Fields start to get some bad habits on the field, like shuffling his feet before he threw; and THAT is why I never wanted him to see the field w/this OL and Nagy as playcaller.
This is EXACTLY how you ruin a good young qb. Nagy is the WORST at developing qb talent.

You think the Bears only get 101 yards and 200 tot for the game? He had 208 yards of passing against the Rams, and their Def is better, not much better but it is; they had over 100 rushing.
The game is 100% the opposite of what happened yesterday w/Dalton. B/c Dalton can pre read and get the ball out correctly in sub 2.5 seconds. Time to throw yesterday was 2.6 seconds, Dalton, can move the ball(ineffectively but can) w/that little amount of time.

Hmmm. Poor example by me but putrid is still putrid. Sorry.
