I do like these J. T. O'Sullivan breakdowns. I agree with his assessment here. There's a lot of improvement needed, but he seems to think Fields will improve.
I think he said that on two plays. He also praised several others for being really great play calls with a couple undone by player mistakes.
I think it's a combination of things that are killing drives and hurting the offense. The last few years it has been too many stupid penalties, too many poorly executed plays, too many dumb play calls, momentum-killing timeouts due to confusion, etc etc etc. It' just a team that can't get its shit together. It's hard to overcome those mistakes and win. It's not just Nagy. But then again, this is his team. AT least SOME accountability is his. Some games I watch them play and think the team wasn't ready for the game. Some games these past few years have been clown shows on offense - just butt ugly play. Not all of that is on Nagy. But he is the head coach. This offense does have some talent this year. Not great. But it sure looks like a more talented offense, personnel-wise, than Bears teams of the past. Let's see if the team can clean up some of the bad stuff as the season progresses. I think they can (a lot of this can be cleaned up I think). We'll just see what happens though.
