There has been a number of articles today by he sports media trying to figure out why Nagy failed to play to Field's strengths. This is a short blurb from Brad Biggs article that mentions it. But it is a head scratcher.
LINK Matt Nagy may need to tailor the offense more to Justin Fields’ strengths
One of the great mysteries of Justin Fields’ performance in Sunday’s 20-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals is why the Chicago Bears didn’t change their game plan to favor him.
When Fields replaced starter Andy Dalton, who got knocked out with a left knee injury in the second quarter, they appeared to run plays better suited for the veteran pocket passer. The offense bogged down and the Bears barely hung on with the benefit of a four-takeaway performance by the defense.
This was in the Athletic, behind a paywall, so just a brief snippet here:
... the tight ends combined for one target all afternoon — not counting Kmet’s catch that was nullified because of an offensive-pass-interference call. That one target was a Kmet catch for zero yards near the end of the game.
“Not enough targets (Sunday), and they need to be more involved,” Nagy said. “I’m well aware of that. That’s my fault for that. That’s, uh, I don’t want to say never gonna happen again, but that’s not enough.”
Nagy came here heralded as "The Guy" who helped develop Patrick Mahomes and the OC of the powerful Kansas City Chiefs offense. But more and more I'm thinking he was nothing more than a guy who helped Andy Reid as a gopher getting Andy his coffee in the mornings. I'm also beginning to wonder if this is the guy we want "developing" Justin Fields.
Maybe I'm wrong. But he sure seems bogus as an offensive minded coach. And I keep looking to see improvement from him. But I just don't see it. Do you?
Can we just fire the numbskull already. I'm so over his self-agrandizzement and his exacerbating belief in arena ball.
I sometimes use big words to hide my anger. Otherwise it's just a bunch of four-letter gibberish.
Nagy looks increasingly awful the more you watch him. When I mentally lapse into black helicopter mode, I wonder sometimes if Nagy's ridiculous Dalton charade this season was because he's afraid HE will be exposed if he has Fields out there.

We all made a bet walking into SF on Sunday--how long until Nagy calls a wasted timeout? How long until he calls a shovel pass (which hasn't worked since 2018) and it loses yardage?
The "under" won in both cases. The guy isn't good.
Guy is a joke, lets be honest. I truly believe he got least possible from Mitch, and somebody has to ensure he doesnt do it again. This franchise NEVER had such 2 high pick, talented QBs, Fields even more so. ****, would love to keep Fox over him, im serious.
Fake 'till you make it. It was last year when I realized Nagy was a joke. We will never be a good team with him as our OC. Maybe as the head coach, but we should just move on.
Nagy will not and does not believe in tayloring his playbook to his players. His "Be You" isn't for the team or the players, it's for him. HE's the playcaller, it's HIS offense and he's going to BE HIM.

Nope. He’s not a SB quality head-coach and he needs to go. Pace will let him go when he has to cover his own failures….
