IMO Fields played good yesterday. Showed confidence and skills, more than enough for his 1st real game. And that pass to ARob was such a beauty.
If Robinson makes that catch (which he should have), we are having a whole different conversation about Fields right now. The pass to Monney was also a dime, maybe just a hair long, but still catchable. And Kmet's sift call OPI cost a 30 yard gain.
Uggghhh
Bears O was ugly yesterday but 3 key big plays were inches away from changing that narrative.
LMAO!!!! You know how many INT's Peyton Manning had through his first two games his rookie year? SIX!!! And he only had 2 TD's.
Either way, you don't know what Zach Wilson is or will be. Do I think he's the next Peyton? Absolutely not. I don't even think he's as good as Fields...but one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. Some of you act like every QB who ever started right away has been ruined, when that is not the case at all. Wilson will probably not be good because he's not good and never should have been the 2nd overall pick...gee...who does that remind everyone of?
Every player and situation is unique. I'd be fine if Dalton starts a few more games... the world won't end. But I'm also fine if Fields starts next week. Will he (gasp) make some rookie QB mistakes? Certainly. This is what rookie QBs do. I'd prefer to see him get some of this out of his system and learn - and come into 2022 that much ahead of the game regarding the learning curve he has to climb.
I'm watching the game right now (I record them to re-watch). I think Bears fans are totally over-reacting to one game here. They need to get a grip.
Yeah, I admittedly didn't see the game...I'll watch the replay when I can, but from what I read it seemed that while Fields didn't play perfectly, his teammates also didn't do him any favors.

Fields also apparently had an opportunity to score if not for a missed block by Jimmy Graham.
Guys, Fields had some great moves and some mistakes during this game, BUT he won the game for us with that late run and 1st down. Guy is a winner. Period.

START RANT: I watched Jimmy Graham carefully birds eye view yesterday. He didn't play many snaps, was taken out several times in RZ situations, and wasn't targeted a single time. Why did we keep him if Nagy isn't gonna play him and target him in the RZ?
I saw that missed block you mentioned. Kmet was also wide open in far side of EZ on that play for an easy TD by the whiffed block prevented Fields from having the time to see him.
Still not impressed with the decision to keep Graham! END RANT

I must admit that I thought I understood the reason to keep Graham (elite RZ and short yardage receiving TE.) If used properly, that would be a critical role for him to fill. But...if you aren't going to play him when he tilts the field in your direction...what's the point? I've explained how to use Graham at this point, and they aren't doing it.

I keep wanting to like Pace/Nagy but I also keep wondering if they know what the heck they are doing. It's hard for me to figure out.

There weren't a lot of realistic choices out there better than Graham in the off season. And if he's not getting reps that means someone else is who is performing better and who's also much more likely going to be on this team next year. So him not playing much might not be a big negative in the long run.

I'm conflicted on Graham. Like, use players for their strengths. If you're not gonna, then find a (cheaper) player with the strength you need and are using Graham for. If Graham is blocking more than he's catching passes, why not use some rotation of JP and Jesper?
