I watched the entire video. Thanks for posting, Ric.
GG has a more positive view than I do about the roster. I hope he's right and I'm wrong. I feel his take is a lot of positive projection and rose-colored glasses stuff.
Proof is in the pudding. We are playing a solid team week 1 that has legit contender status. Let's see this team surprise some people and look for real vs the Rams, even if they lose by 3. I'll happily eat more words if they do.
He admits he's an optimist when it comes to this stuff, he doesn't look to deep into pre season outside of who one individual matchups. But he actually goes back and watches stuff over and over again to see what happened for each player, at least along the lines. He said he'll decide what he thinks the team is during the regular season when it all matters.
Gabriel has spent his life scouting football players and is respected around the league. I like his "no bullshit" approach and how he just tells it like it is. He seemed to be laughing at the "sky is falling" Bears fans and he points out why - covering specifics with specific players on the Bears roster now. Much of what he presented there are facts. Some is just his personal opinion as a professional scout with a lifetime of professional scouting of football players. What he says carries weight with me - so much more than social media people who often seem so ignorant... I was watching some of their input comments that scrolled along the bottom of that video as Gabriel was talking. It was embarrassing to read some of those because they were such ignorant meatball fan responses to a man who's forgotten more than they will ever know about football talent. But hey, anyone with a computer can be a pretend GM and spout crazy stuff as if it were fact. LOL, I do it all the time here myself :-)
But I did absolutely like hearing him talk about our players. Loved his take on the OL and the young talent there in the pipeline.
