In a grand scheme of things, Nagy is better than Trestman..
Yes and no, both are a failure when it comes to producing a NFL offense.
The thing that is different about them. One has an elite defense while the other had a bottom tier defense.
Nagy could still turn things around this year. I'm curious as to how the defense will perform. And I am super-curious to see if the changes on offense, especially acquiring Justin Fields, have the impact we all are hoping for. The book on Trestman is closed. I feel like we don't know the ending yet regarding the Nagy book. Could have a happy ending, still.
"The biggest problem most people seem to have with Nagy is his inability to develop Trubisky. That’s just foolish. Sometimes you just gotta take a step back and realize that some players will never live up to their expectations. You think Nagy wasn’t realizing all the mistakes Trubisky was making? You remember when he straight up told Trubisky to “shut the f**k up!” during the Rams game in 2019? Nagy looks fed up with his signal-caller in that clip.
Okay, I can agree with that. But.
playcalling. lopsided passing vs run. too many gimmick plays. gimmick plays at the wrong time. Game management. Clock management. confused players. momentum killing time outs.
so many things he should be better at, but he's not. it's not just Trubisky. I hope he is learning, but I have my doubts still.
Better than Trestman? Most definitely. But so would just about any other coach you could hire. Except maybe Gase.

My guess is that it has been a combination of factors holding back the offense. One is not having a QB. Another has been OL issues. Another has been play calling issues. It sure looked like a lack of overall roster talent on offense. It's like that old saying, "you can't make chicken salad out of chicken crap" and expect it to taste good. We've just had a lot of crap on offense - for a long time here.
Now that the offense is getting some upgrades, including a QB upgrade, it will be interesting to watch and see if Nagy can finally be the guy we hoped that he would be when he was hired here. I think he may be that guy. Only time will tell. But I am excited to watch this 2021 team. I think it will be a work in progress with the young people, especially Justin Fields. But I do feel like the team could be much better.
If anyone was listening to what Hub was saying he and Pace were never on the hotseat. It was only the media and fans hypothesizing that he and Pace should be.
It was posted on this site multiple times, no one here should be surprised.

Yes and no. The limitations at QB impact what you call as a playcaller and impact all the things you just mentioned. I'm not saying he would be better at those things with a better QB...mainly because I can't answer that definitively at all. And neither can anyone else frankly.
