"According to Jim O’Donnell of the Daily Herald, there are some internal discussions going on among members of the McCaskey family about potentially selling the Bears in the near future.
“There is some internal strife going on among family members to sell … now,” a source close to the McCaskey family told O’Donnell."
"Which do you think will happen first?" he asked. "The Bears will be sold or the main grandstand building at Arlington Park will be imploded?"
The insouciant looked both ways before answering:
"Even money at this point in time, so put both on the board to open at 4-to-5. This one could truly go either way.""
profootballtalk is nagging me to turn off my ad-blocker so I'm boycotting them. They might have more, but everything is based on the dailyherald story at this point.
"In the event the McCaskey family decides to sell the Bears, there are apparently three suitors to watch out for – Pat Ryan, Jeff Bezos and Neil Bluhm.
O’Donnell believes Ryan would be the favorite since he already owns 19.7 percent of the team alongside Andrew McKenna. He also has two sons, Pat Ryan Jr. and Rob Ryan, who could eventually carry the torch if/when their time comes.
Bezos buying the Bears would most likely turn the most heads since he’s become a well-known figure due to his success with Amazon. He was also linked to the Washington Football Team earlier this year.
The Bears are currently worth an estimated $3.5 billion, according to the Daily Herald."

all this was reported/rumored on 670 a long while ago. Most of the family wants to sell, V and a few others don't. It was assumed after she does the few will lose the fight.

It does seem to pop up right around this time every year. Still, with nothing else to discuss...I have ...let me check my jeans...$17.36 cents I can add to the "Buy the Bears Pot." Anyone else in?
I know it's just me being sentimental, but I have been hoping that the Bears could win a Super Bowl before Virginia passes away. With the drafting of Fields I feel like the Bears are closer to doing this than they were. The QB may finally be there to accomplish this. Obviously we don't know what will happen now. But there is a chance that Pace/Nagy/Fields could be the people to get this done over the next few years. Virginia is 98 years old, but seems pretty sharp. I do work with the elderly as a volunteer, and have for years now. I lead small group Bible studies at a local nursing home and also at an assisted living facility. It is not at all unusual for people to be pretty sharp at Virginia's age and even live beyond 100 years old. I even had a 101 year old lady in one of my Bible studies (she was an absolute gem and a hoot... she was still very active and sharp as can be at that age).
So maybe the Bears can finally get it together and win a SB sooner rather than later.
And as far as the family, I do feel like George McCaskey is better than some of his family predecessors. Yes, he's made mistakes. But I do feel like he has a passion for the Bears and I greatly admire him making the decision to give Pace/Nagy the opportunity to turn the team around rather than pulling the plug. LOL, I wanted 'em fired. But now in hindsight I can see that may have been a bad move. George took fierce heat for his backing of Pace/Nagy this year. But now that Fields is here, and the rest of the team is looking promising... well, I think George may have made the best decision. So maybe the Bears do turn it around and win a SB before Virginia dies. Then sell the team and move it to some other city if that makes the new owners happy. Just selling the team does not in-and-of-itself mean things will get better. In fact if the Bears get a bad owner then the team could be worse off than it has been. Don't kid yourself. Things can always get worse for an NFL franchise. But of course us fans always think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. I'm not against selling the team. Just saying it's not a lock that the new owners will be better. Some of these rich guys are not necessarily bright owners. They understand business, but that isn't a lock that they understand running a professional sports team. Some seem like idiots.

While I do agree that the McCs could have done more over the past 15 years, changing ownership doesn’t automatically guarantee you more wins and championships. Who says that Bezos, Musk or any other crazy billionaire knows how to assemble a competitive team? Because so far JJ, Khan, Kroenke and all the other big names sure haven’t had a lot of success in the NFL. The only billionaire business man who’s made it, is Robert Kraft - and he had Brady. ; )
Yes, I have been critical of the McCs before, especially for not firing Sweaty Teddy, but I’d still rather have George in charge of the team than someone like Mark Zuckerberg or Larry Page/Ellison. I’m not quite sure any of these billionaires would be as passionate about the Bears as George. For him it’s not just a brand, it’s their family history. This franchise represents everything. For Bezos & Co. it would be just another side business.
All I’m saying is be careful what you wish for, because it can always get worse.
