Shocking this has been agreed to in a framework so early. It goes up 26M from this year somthere should be room to do some roster moves next off season. Too early to tell though.
"...The team will look a bit different on the field in 2021, but many of the 2018-20 core remains. Next offseason, however, will see greater roster flexibility (and thus likely greater roster turnover) than Chicago has had in a while.
To begin with, the following projected Bears starters are scheduled to be free agents in 2022:
QB Andy Dalton WR Allen Robinson WR Anthony Miller TE Jimmy Graham C Sam Mustipher RG James Daniels RT Germain Ifedi DE Akiem Hicks DE Bilal Nichols CB Desmond Trufant S Tashaun Gipson
That’s a total of 11 starters – 7 on offense, 4 on defense. Additionally, the Bears will be able to move on from QB Nick Foles ($3M cap savings), DT Eddie Goldman ($6.7M cap savings), OLB Robert Quinn ($6.7M cap savings), and OLB Jeremiah Attaochu (2.85M cap savings) if they want to. (With Goldman, that is highly unlikely.)
The Bears will also have greater financial flexibility than they have the last few off-seasons. Right now, they are scheduled to have about $39M in cap room according to Over the Cap, though that does not yet factor in the 2021 draft picks, who will probably drop that by about $10M. That’s also estimating a $200M cap, and it could end up a bit higher than that. Either way, they will have money to spend, with the ability to create more with some cuts (as indicated above)...."

If this team pans out like they could if you judge by high ceiling. We may have to turn a lot of good players down. As for Davante coming here, He knows what that would do to the FO of GB so I could see him at the very least threaten that.
The good thing as of now is that between OTC & Spotrac the Bears will have between 45-50M without any cuts. Not a bad sum to work with.

I agree. And some of the players they'll WANT to let go next year they can. And with a number of guys on 1-year contracts this year, the Bears can pick-and-choose who to re-sign to longer term deals. It helps having our franchise QB on a rookie deal too.
It actually works out pretty well for the Bears. At least as you say, it's not a bad sum to work with. We won't be in cap hell.

We still have ARob's pending extension which will free up about 10-11M if done right. The CAP hit next year will be affected but obviously it can be balanced out in a meaningful way. We can even get a supplementary 3rd if Champ Bailey get hired away on a promotion.
More related to this year but creates more space for 1 more OL & CB.
Once you extend ARob you can claw back 10M. Say you sign him to a 5/100M (w/ 2 void years) with 50M guaranteed. You give him a 25M signing bonus and 3M salary in 2021. You get back 9.9M and add it to the available CAP. Remaining contract structure could be:

However they do it, I just want to see the Bears lock up a top-10 WR in his prime years here, for Justin Fields. By now I have watched every snap Fields took at Ohio State - most of them I've watched countless times. He had two stellar WRs. And that Chris Olave in particular seemed like his "ARob" guy there.
The Bears have some guys in that WR room that show "promise" but are not proven top-10 NFL talents. They may never be. But ARob has put up the top-10 numbers in 2020 with pure crap QBs throwing to him (really this has been the case his entire career). With Fields at QB I believe Allen Robinson can be a top-5 QB easy. Maybe even better.
I get so pissed when people (Bears fans) fail to understand that QBs do need supporting talent like this to hit their ceiling. There is no magic Mike Tice pixie dust here. You either give your QB the talent to succeed - or we will watch yet another Chicago Bears failure at QB.
Sign Allen Robinson. Lock him up for the remainder of his prime years that he's just now entering. Get it done. Don't piss away this opportunity with Justin Fields. And the heck of it is, they can do this and IMPROVE their cap situation. It's win/win here. ARob will get a decent payday I suspect, and one that is fair to him and the Bears. And if the Bears are not willing to make this happen, then don't draft Fields. Just roll with crap QBs like the past decades and continue to suck as a team. Roll with Foles or Andy Dalton - or any deadbeat guy who will suck at QB. Because if you can't afford to provide a supporting cast of talent for your QB, then it really doesn't matter who you have at QB. Just enjoy the mediocrity for another 30 or 40 years here in Chicago.
Pay Allen Robinson. For once, do something RIGHT on offense and support your young QB with the BEST talent you can get your hands on.
