I am so excited. We got a good one here. This article is a good read regarding all of the rookies and thinks the coaches will be looking for. There are a few VERY interesting players. It's worth reading.
LINK All Eyes on Justin Fields for Rookie Minicamp
The Bears quarterback will gather all the attention at the weekend's rookie minicamp but there are plenty of other points of interest.
The focus for this camp is an easy call. Everyone wants to see Justin Fields as he makes his first throws in a Bears uniform at a practice.
Justin Fields has never played on the road in front of a big crowd? Or on artificial turf?
I have no problem if Nagy goes with Dalton to start the season (in fact, I expect it) but these aren't reasons to do it.
I think what's happening here with all of the worry about "getting it right" with this latest Bears effort to draft and develop a QB, is angst over past failures. Even though some of this is overkill (maybe all of it) I do understand how some fans (including me) are probably over-thinking it all - as if Fields is some precious and fragile player. It is just fans wanting to pull out all stops to finally "develop" a QB and not have yet another failure. Some, of this is probably laughable and crazy thinking, but I do understand the worry. It's all due to the history of past failures spanning so many years and decades.
Having said that, I do hope the Bears can provide Fields reasonable OL protection and enough skill players around him to give him a fighting chance of being a success here. And it's looking like the Bears may have done that for 2021. I say that with the realization that you never have a perfect OL and perfect O players surrounding a QB. But you do want a reasonable level of quality on offense when you trot Fields out there as starter.
I have been more fixated on this Fields draft more than any other QB in the past 60 years. I want the pain to end at QB. You'll laugh, but I have watched Fields plays from college almost every night since we drafted him. It's like I can't really "believe" we drafted a kid with this level of potential. We seem to have a very special but raw talent here. He does make mistakes. He will need to get better at the NFL level. But holy cow, he is so gifted. I can't remember us ever drafting a kid this "football smart" before. He routinely makes quick and right decisions. Yes, he has some brain fart plays too. But very few. He is about as perfect of a raw talent that you could hope for here.
I just hope the Bears don't blow it with him. As gifted as Fields is, he will still have a steep learning curve to climb on and also off the field. I thought Trubisky could make the learning curve climb. But he crashed and burned. Horribly. I don't want that to happen with Fields. But yeah, he's got to go out there and start - and begin the part of that learning curve that only happens with real game reps in real regular season games. That may be in game 1 of the season. You never know.

I read it the exact same way!! I thought it was turf rather than tuff.. and was thinking this guy has not seen advancements if turf in the last 4 decades 😂
