Foles might not get moved until PS/TC. Personally, I'd cut him and take the hit if I couldn't move him. Its a direct result of the Mitch pick not working out. Did it have to be done...I don't know.
I'd like to see Dalton/Fields/PS Developmental QB (not Bray 2.0).
Yeah, I don't know what will actually happen here. My gut feeling is that this QB situation is one of a number of things that will ultimately get sorted out in 2022. The team (Pace) did better this 2021 year so far, especially with this draft. But the overall roster adjustments need (at least) 2022 to get fixed properly. JMO.

This scenario wouldn't surprise me if a bunch of things lined up:
IF Fields is looking look in TC/PS and IF a market develops
I could see them dumping Dalton in trade and keeping Foles at the #2. Personally, I really don't care. I'd just trade whoever you can for whatever you can get. The future of this team, good or bad, doesn't depend on who is the vet backup. It succeeds or fails depending upon Fields and Nagy.
Maybe the Bears will just roll with Foles as the 3rd string QB this year and pay the money.
They've already paid him. Signing bonus and roster bonus. He takes up a roster spot though and sounds like we are stuck with him.
It's hard to overstate what a clusterf**k the Trubisky miss was. So many sunk-cost snowball effects down the road.
This one is gonna make Ric very, very mad...
So why do we need 3 QBs, especially when the third is Foles? I see the advantage of just cutting him to gain a roster spot, but where is the downside? If injuries get us down to our third QB, we are screwed anyway. It is just an embarrassment to Pace, but I do not see any other purpose in keeping him. Just admit you screwed up, and move on.

100% agree. Look, I don't blame Pace for signing Dalton. Prior to the draft no one knew Fields was going to be sitting there at 11. Yelling at Pace for signing Dalton in light of drafting Fields is 100% hindsight. I fully expected a tier 2 QB on day 2 or 3 to sit behind Dalton/Foles. If one of the vets had gone down, you had another one and wouldn't be forced to send Mills out there in week 5. I also understand QB contacts and what you pay them. Some people here still think you shouldn't pay an elite franchise QB.
When Fields was there, everything changed. Even the "promise" Dalton got. To be honest, it is his team until Fields in ready. He knows that. And I'm not worried about FA not signing Chicago because Dalton was "lied to." Please, some DT two years from now isn't going to give a rip. And skill position talent will want to play with Fields.
Trade either one, personally I've seen Foles play so...cut/trade Foles. Either way, sooner rather than later, its going to be Fields' team.
They could just cut him anyway and pay him to sit at home watching the games on TV this year. But that's about it. We seem to be stuck with him.
LINK The Bears Tried (And Failed) to Trade Nick Foles
There is no cap room to be gained by parting ways with Foles now, so Chicago might as well get used to a QBs room with him working alongside Fields and Andy Dalton.

There is no cap gained, but I'd rather have an UDFA or someone they like from a PS in the room with Dalton and Fields. Just because they owe him money doesn't mean he has to be on the roster.
Maybe we could use Foles for something else too. Clipboard holder maybe? Call him a quality control coach?
"The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign Tebow, 33, to a one-year contract later this week or next week to play tight end, a position he never played in high school, college or his previous three-year NFL career... Tebow hasn't played football since the 2015 NFL preseason and has spent the past six years working as a broadcaster on the SEC Network and working on his professional baseball career."
