I just want the Bears to provide the talent needed to help Fields be that QB we've been searching for, for so long. My hope is that the Bears go big, providing great talent on offense now that we are in this new Fields era. The bottom-line is that if Fields does not have rock solid supporting talent, he will be one more Bears failure at QB. It is that simple. Consequently give this guy plenty of talent. Go big.
Outside of Robinson who really is proven talent around Fields?
If you want to keep Robinson ( Something you should with a new QB ) you're going to have to pay him 20+ million a year. Can we truly afford that and more importantly is he worth it?
Mooney and Kmet look promising while Monty is just another RB in a league that has too many of the same type of player.

The supporting cast is average at best.
In hindsight that money paid to Foles, Quinn & Graham could have gone to other players and been a better investment. The good news is that Robinson is here for this year. If the supporting cast of receivers show this year that they are at a level needed to sustain a quality offense then we won't have a problem with life after we lose our best player on offense. Another guy will be there to take his place. On the other hand, if these guys do not deliver at that level then maybe the Bears can use their first pick of next year's draft to add another guy to the mix. We don't have a 1st round pick though next year.

With very limited picks next year as well as no first round pick. Do we have the luxury to do that?
Hicks will be gone for sure and there is no real replacement behind him and he is a very important part of this defense. As well as no real CB since Fuller was let go.
Remember when I said to loose out during the 2020 season. Well not doing so cost us our 1st next year which can impact Fields performance. Was going 8-8 worth it in the end and making a meaningless playoff game?

======= Speaking of Quinn, I would be willing to change to a 4-3 defense if that helps him get up his sack total this year. I am sure our linebackers can adjust to that without a lot of difficulty.
I just came across this in "The Athletic" tonight.
LINK Rookie QBs have walked into worse circumstances than the ones Fields will inherit, but his support system in Chicago leaves a lot to be desired.
Even for those holding out hope about what can be accomplished with Fields, Nagy and his staff have produced underwhelming results over their first three seasons. Franchise-tagged Allen Robinson (who might be the biggest winner of this entire ordeal) is still in place as the Bears’ No. 1 pass catcher, but the rest of the receiving corps is filled with question marks.
There’s a chance that Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet take steps forward in their sophomore seasons, but Chicago doesn’t have many proven options in place.
Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd (both on one-year deals this coming season) are worthwhile dice rolls for a team that’s strapped for cap space, but neither moves the needle.
Even after the Bears traded up for Oklahoma State tackle Teven Jenkins in the second round, the offensive line is still a concern — especially after the release of left tackle Charles Leno. Instead of Leno and Jenkins bookending the line, Jenkins now profiles as the team’s starting left tackle, with significant questions about how the right side of the line shakes out.
Fields’ athleticism and sturdiness in the pocket could alleviate some concerns, but his aggressive mindset and tendency to hunt for big plays could also compound shaky pass protection in his first season. Amid the Russell Wilson speculation, there was a sense among some pundits and fans that the Bears had an otherwise healthy roster that was simply missing the right quarterback, but that just isn’t the case. If Fields succeeds early on, it’ll likely be a case of overcoming his supporting cast rather than being lifted by it.

Yeah, of course, JABF, but the team is currently being hamstrung by a number of limiting factors as I have pointed out.
If you can't dump Foles (as is looking increasingly unlikely), then you don't get an extra pick next year. And you don't get back the cap space wasted on him. And you waste a roster spot to boot.
It's a similar story with Anthony Miller.
And having to cut Leno as a cap casualty lessens depth on the OL.
Having already lost Fuller, CB pretty much has to be a high pick next draft. And Bears don't have a 1st.
All of these things hinder the ability to "go big".

Yeah, I definitely get the reality of the situation. In Chicago there's always a reason "why" the QBs fail. The only constant is that they do fail - they come, they fail, the team continues to suck. It's how we roll here with QBs. I do accept that reality. I was just hoping that THIS time the Bears could actually develop a QB properly and support him to the max with rock solid talent. But the situation is what it is.
Drafting a good QB prospect is not the end, but just the beginning. What happens now is critically important to the future of the franchise. Will we do it all better this time? Or not? Time will tell.
This is what I mean by the media simply writing for clicks. This unnamed evaluator makes stuff up in order to knock Fields and the Bears. Because if he doesn't, he won't get quoted. And if he doesn't get quoted, this writer won't come back to him. The writer needs someone to provide him with a "real take" on Fields but also knows that if he doesn't generate clicks, he'll be looking for a new job. Farr does a good job of providing the truth.
I hate this period after the draft and before TC. SO much making stuff up.

IDK where this stuff comes from except for the fact that every "guru" has to present pros and cons. No one is gonna say: "this guy is a 100% can't-miss. May as well elect him to the Hall of Fame right now".
The things I really LOVE about Fields are his pocket abilities--he's an accurate thrower, has good awareness, throws with anticipation, and makes reads. The other stuff--running ability, "improvisation", huge arm, etc--is gravy to me. I've seen plenty of QBs in the latter categories flame out. Give me a guy who can PLAY NFL QB FROM THE POCKET every time.
