I'm 100% down w/that, recoup some picks in a deep draft. It's why if you couldn't get a qb this year at 20, i was okay w/trading back in rd 1.
These are the only one's I would not do that if they are still on the board:
j owusu-koramoah Notre Dame LB 6.82 elijah moore Mississippi WR 6.43 teven jenkins Oklahoma State OT 6.42 azeez ojulari Georgia EDGE 6.39
Those are all 1st rd grades, and if you can stand pat and get one then you should, specifically Jenkins or Ojulari; but I doubt any of these guys last 20 picks into the 2nd rd; so ya feel free to jump back and get some extra picks
The only downside to Pace drafting OT Jenkins is that I think I'd be so happy my heart would give out. There's only so much the old ticker can take after last night... Fields AND Jenkins would be utterly amazing :-)

Still alive jabf!?
LOL, yes. What a draft so far, right? Fields AND Jenkins. Both. Our OL should be very good this year. Jenkins is a guy with the disposition of Olin Kruetz - one talented MEAN guy who destroys D players. He is not happy just blocking people. He beats up on them all game long, just punishing them with a beating. He wants to finish plays with the opposing player on the ground in the dirt.
I think we needed a guy like this. I don't think we've had one since Olin was here.
We won't rebuild the entire team in this draft alone. We know that. But I love how Pace is thoughtfully choosing each piece now, when he chooses his players. These are not mediocre guys. These are guys who can be foundation pieces for our roster for the next 10 or more years. Pace could have gone after "quantity" in this draft or "quality" and he chose to go after quality - in the 2 roster positions that were crying out for help, the QB and OL. In 2022 Pace can hopefully build on this.
The Vikings look to me to be building something good there. The Bears are too. I have no clue as to the Lions... I haven't been following them this off season. Green Bay has a lot of talent, and if their cry-baby QB can calm down and play well this year, GB will be really really really tough. In light of all of this, Pace is doing what needs to be done here so that we can (hopefully) be competitive again in our division. That's really the 1st step. We need to win a division championship and become the alpha dog of the NFCN. Then the next step is a team that can win a Super Bowl. Pace added 2 key pieces that were desperately needed by drafting a promising young QB and a RT.
I wonder if Pace's plan is to pick up a player or two after this draft to cement the roster for 2021. I know the money is tight. But I could see Pace getting some great help (a player or two) to put the icing on the cake after this draft. I feel mighty good about the Bears in 2021.
Boy, those Vikings have added some key talent. Holy cow. They could be mighty tough this year. The Bears got better. But it's not like the rest of the division stayed static. I think the other teams may have gotten better too. How much, I don't know. But it won't be easy for the Bears this year. I think we need 2022 to continue to build our roster up.
