So the Bears re-sign Ifedi to a 1-yr. contract. I like the move. We can go with him and Leno this year and not draft OL until after the first two rounds. They are now looking to trade Miller after his screw-up fight in the playoffs. I am OK with that, too. So, then, what I want now is the guy who can do the most to help Dalton in the first round. I want Rashad Bateman to play the slot (assume Miller traded). He just ran a 40 in 4.39 and he is much bigger and stronger than Toney. He gets quick separation and will fight for contested balls. He would be great over the middle on 3rd and 8. That is what we need to play ball control and rely on defense and run game with Montgomery. Then I am drafting Kellen Mond in the second round. I may be crazy (but, if so, I am not alone). This guy can play, and has more upside than any QB prospect outside the top-5 (who will all go in the top 10, making none available at 20). If the Bears can move up to get Lance or Fields, that's great, but I think my plan has a more realistic chance of actually happening.
As things sit today, who are you drafting in the first two rounds? Give me some names, guys.

About Mond, I have read everything from "this guy is way better then he's being credited for" to "Day 3 pick, backup-only potential". But yeah, I'm intrigued and since I'm realistic about the 2021 season being a rebuild year, taking him Day 2 sounds appealing.
The only QB I hope Pace stays away from in Lance. Very limited experience at a very small school--way too risky in the upper-1st for me.

I'm looking to add:
in the first: a falling QB or LT. I would take a game changer on the DL as well. in the second: I think if you don't get a QB in the first, you have to reach for one. If you got the QB, the best OL prospect out there preferring them in this order: T-G-C.
AND, I'm always looking to trade down, but not for 6th and 7th round picks. If I move down in the first, I want two seconds this year or a second and a first next year. If I move down in the 2nd, I want a later second and a 3rd. I don't want any picks next year. This draft is "high in WR and OL talent" or so we have read. Both positions being ones the Bears need. I also want another young CB, I'm willing to take a flyer on one late. If Fuller leaves, everything goes out the window and I'd consider a CB in the 2nd.

Honestly I can't tell you because being overseas I don't get a chance to watch much college football and I waste enough time with NFL stuff that I don't want to get involved in studying draft prospects. When I talk draft strategy its always position based not names. Sorry. I don't even know who Sewell or Slater are. I'm assuming OT?

Sewell is a stud LT from Oregon. He's a top-10 pick at worst, probably top-5. Don't waste your time as there's zero chance he falls to 20 unless he gets arrested,

===== Sewell is a monster. Surefire All-Pro. Slater is nearly as good and can play multiple positions. Other than these two, there is a good chance we can get anybody we want for tackle at 20. I just think we should wait til next year and focus on WR in the first round. There will be good OL guys still on the board in rounds 2-3, if we want to go that route.
After Dalton press conference today, I would be shocked if the Bears move up to draft a top-5 QB. Dalton said they PROMISED him the starting job. That tells me they are not drafting a QB in first round and probably not even in second. Otherwise, they would get huge pressure from fans and internally to give the rookie a shot as soon as Dalton falters.
First one is one of those annoying page-thru articles but the first 2 QBs described are Mond and Mills (surprised Trask isn't there too). I like the idea of Pace drafting a Round 2-4 QB this year and double-dipping in 2022. Completely revamp the QB room in 2 offseasons and stop having to backfill with overpriced vet backups like Daniel, Campbell, Foles, Hoyer, and so on.
He seems like a guy who could be a really good NFL quarterback but he's raw as can be. Trubisky raw. Very limited college starting experience. He looks like a low-floor but potential for a high-ceiling, kind of guy. He's GOT to come to a team that can be patient and has the coaching talent to develop him. He stares down receivers too often. He is an old-school pocket passer who can move around the pocket and make people miss... but he's not a gifted athlete who can run and make plays with his feet. In that area he is not as gifted as Trubisky. But I'm okay with a pocket passer QB (there are some mighty good QBs playing who are pocket passers... Tom Brady is one.
You know, I'd rather the Bears take a guy like this, rather than guys like Trask or Newman because Mills could be a high ceiling guy with the right coaching. I don't think Trask or Newman have that potential no matter who is coaching them. I don't.
If Pace, Nagy, Bill Lazor, DeFilippo & Snyder think this is their guy then I'd hope they go after him. It sounds like his draft stock is really going up after his pro day. What do you think it would take to get him? A 2nd or 3rd round pick?
