No to Watson. I'm sorry, but the time to get him was 2017. Pace chose Mitch instead, case closed. Let's move on.
We really need to stop throwing around draft picks like they're candy bars on Halloween. Successful franchises build their teams through the DRAFT. Teams like GB and NE rarely engage in big blockbuster trades or overspend in FA, because they're smart.
Let's keep our picks and draft a young and promising rookie QB ourselves. Or go after Dak Prescott in FA and use the draft to rebuild the OL & DL.
I agree the Watson yacht could have been boarded but that ship has sailed. It's a massive gamble to give up so much for 1 player in a team sport no matter how good he is. If that player has an injury or injuries then you are out all the 1st Rd picks AND cap space. Only time I recall a QB getting traded and working out for the team is Drew Brees and his trade value took a hit with the shoulder injury (and also playing for the Chargers early on). I feel like Sam Darnold may be in a similar position if NYJ new HC decides he wants his own rookie QB - as the Chargers wanted Philip Rivers out of NC St (i think). I believe Darnold is only 23 and though regressed this year had shown signs of having a high ceiling on a bad team in his 1st couple years. I loath the Jets (most boring team in my lifetime IMO) so I cant speak much about him cuz if the Jets are on my TV is off 😜

Deshawn Watson is unhappy with the Texans because he feels that the front office and owners aren't running the team well.
The solution? Send him to the Bears. Yes. This will work out well for all parties involved. Watson will be overcome with... uh, emotion, yeah, emotion... if he were to land with the Bears from a trade.
What's our projected cap next year due to Pace's masterful handling of the teams' finances? Oh yes, it's -186,000. Yep. Let's add another trade that strips the team of multiple first round picks with a QB that needs a great WR to really function well.

Seriously, the team that should be angling for Deshawn is the Patriots. They don't have anything in the hopper, and Bill needs a good QB to make things work over there. The first rounders traded would probably be late first picks, but whatever.

Dew Brees was a free agent signing by the Saints in 2006. The Bears could have signed him and ruined his career, but they were too busy with Rex Grossman and turning down Kurt Warner from being the backup QB in 2005.

Thanks for correcting me. My memory had failed me. ...seems like years ago. Oh wait, it was.
A bad HC & OC can definitely ruin a QB. Even a good HC that is focused on D & his running game can be a detriment to a QB's development. Unless the Ricketts family buys the Jets I doubt Donaldson would be traded way below value giving Bears (or any team) a 'great deal'

It's not a correction as much as it is the cause of night terrors for 2000's Bears fans. Shouting at the middle of the night "We could've signed Drew Brees! Kurt Warner!" is no way for fans to go through life.
Could you imagine the Rex vs Kyle wars never happening on the old CBMB? I feel like when I mention the old school battles the Rutger Hauer speech from Blade Runner should cue up.
Looking at the playoff picture now: ( Post Packers vs Rams game )
Who is left:
Rodgers Brady Brees Mahomes Jackson
These guys all won MVP...
Two great up and coming: Allen Mayfield
Goff is an average QB that needs everything to excel in order to get a ring.
Deshaun Watson is 25 years old and will be 26 next year. Even if we were to give up some big draft picks for him. He still has around 7-10 years in his 30's as a top 10 QB in the NFL. The impact of a top 10 QB will evaluate the team for years to come. Heck just look at the Packers for the majority of 2010's. Most years it was Rodgers keeping them alive. Very few years they had a real team round them like this year.
I say you give the Texans what they want. In the meantime you try to get someone to bite on Eddie Jackson and Khalil Mack. Possible 2nd round picks for both of them or better yet the Texans get them and have Mack and Watt on the same line with Jackson in the back.
This is a great example of a guy not actually watching the game. He looks at draft picks and then looks at some stats. If he actually watched the game he'd know that the "two first round receivers" have actually under performed for most of their careers. Floyd was always hurt, same with Cooks. I'm not sure who the third first round pick on their offensive line is, but if he actually watched any football he would know that draft status doesn't guarantee NFL playing ability. If that were the case we wouldn't need Watson because Trubs would be a stud...right?

I am of the opinión that Watson would not take us to the "Prmoised Land" based on our current roster construction. Having said that I was unaware that he has had some serious knee injuries:

I just keep coming back to the fact the team roster talent needs so much help right now. With what it would take to get Watson, it would make a bad situation worse. We've talked on this forum forever about having the talent to support a QB so he can play at his ceiling. We don't have that now. If Pace gives away yet more draft resources we won't have the ability to support the QB for years here. We need MORE draft picks to fix the team not LESS. People will wade in and say we need to do this because Pace can't draft well and will never draft the QB we need. Well. That's a problem. With the GM. If he can't draft then mortgaging our future only screws the new GM who will eventually (2022) replace Pace and inherit this mess.
