Some potential "positives" in all of this.

As fans we're just along for the ride and can't change any of this. So I'm just "processing" all of this season and thinking if there is anything positive in all of this. I was hoping the Bears would do a reset with CEO/GM/HC/DC/QB. That was a pipe dream I guess. But there are a couple of things that could come out of this.
1. We will definitively KNOW if Pace/Nagy are capable of getting the job done after this upcoming season. We could be surprised and have the team bounce back. Not saying it will happen, but it could.
2. We could get lucky and finally get a good QB in the draft this year. It's a long shot (usually is when drafting QB) but it could happen. Pace knows the QB issue is #1 in importance. He will focus everything on solving that problem. Yes, we don't have a high draft pick. Yes, he whiffed on Trubisky (QB whiffs happen even with good GMs). But maybe we get lucky this time. One can hope.
3. The D has under-performed under Pagano. There is every possibility that a new DC can get more out of this unit. I do think that could happen.
4. The OL is so fixable. We have (I think) a solid young interior OL group. This draft is supposed to be loaded with OL talent. There is zero excuse for not getting 1 stud tackle in this draft. It should happen. I expect it to happen. There should be talent that in some years would be 1st round talent - that in this draft fall to the 2nd round. Even if we draft a QB in the 1st, there will be solid OL talent available in the 2nd round. I'm talking day-1 starter talent. If nothing else maybe we plug the new T in as Massie's replacement this year to get experience and then the following year move him over to replace Leno. I'll bet Leno is here for one more season. Then take a flyer on a "project" OL in the middle rounds. Maybe in 2022 draft a 1st round OT. That would be a young and talented OL that could help the offense for many years to come. Anyway, I am hopeful the OL woes can be fixed, however they do it.
5. By not blowing it all up, and assuming Nagy does pan out as HC (I know that's not a given), if the team takes a significant stride with the new DC defense and a somewhat better offense - then build on that in the 2022 and 2023 drafts to rotate off some of our older players and upgrade the overall talent. No, it's not nuking it all for a 3 to 5 year rebuild. But in a sense it could be somewhat similar... still have a 3 year plan with a (hopefully) similar outcome. I'm not saying it WILL happen. I'm saying it could.
6. Finally, there is the possibility that Pace and Nagy do learn from their experience and mistakes and come out of this "better" as a result of it all. A "trial by fire" type of thing. That would be my hope since we are keeping them. Again, us fans don't control the fact that the team is keeping Pace and Nagy. So hey, I'm 100% okay with eating some crow here if those two do eventually turn out as a good GM/HC team. It's the NFL where crazy things DO happen. So hey, why not hope something good happens here to our team with Pace and Nagy.
This isn't what I wanted. But maybe something good does come out of this. I hope so. Go Bears!
