Who are potential defensive coordinator candidates for the Chicago Bears?
With Chuck Pagano stepping down a much-needed change is coming to the defense. However, without much change coming at head coach and front office, it may make the list of candidates smaller than other defensive coordinator jobs. Chicago Bears: Sneaky defensive coordinator candidates to replace Pagano By Ryan Heckman - January 13th, 2021
The Chicago Bears may want to go a sneaky route when replacing Chuck Pagano.
Only a few days into the offseason, and things are getting interesting for the Chicago Bears. Just last night, defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano made the decision to step away from football for good. Pagano is retiring, leaving the Bears without a defensive coordinator.
In a roundabout way, many Bears fans got their wish. Pagano retiring means the Bears do not have to fire him, but also have the privilege of moving on.
Under Pagano for the last two years, the Bears defense has looked much different than it did with Vic Fangio. Pagano’s approach is the polar opposite of what Fangio brought to the table, and it showed week-in and week-out.
With the mess that is our offense, I’m not sure a great DC would even come here as chances are the team fails and the GM and HC don’t survive and he may be out himself looking for a job.
