LOL... and think about it. He comes here and (arguably) his #1 mission as our GM is to finally solve the QB nightmare that won't end. So what does he do? He brings in the formidable Mike Glennon, Chase Daniel, Mitchell Trubisky & Nick Foles. I'm sure George McCaskey is properly impressed with THAT performance. And just for a nice touch Pace added a crappy OL, WRs who get ejected from games & dropping TD passes & he brought in the great DC Pagano... and gives away draft picks like they're Monopoly money. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with all of that? Right? :-)
I think George is gonna tell him how proud he is of him. Not. I think Virginia will give him a kick in the groin... just drop kick him on the Halas Hall office floor like a sack of potatoes. LOL, that little old woman can get mighty pissed ya know :-)
Not a popular decision but I have been thinking about this quite a bit. This delay in news is foretelling. I was one of the first to think Nagy had to go and been undecided on Pace. You can say Pace missed on all these QB's but Trubisky is the only one he envisioned playing. Glennon was holding the seat warm for the draft pick, who turned out to be Trubisky. Chase Daniels was clearly a back up and assist the coaches implementing new offense coming from KC and knowing the offense. Nick Foles I am not sure why we felt the urge unless it was massaging Nagy, but he came at a decent price tag and has shown he is not the savior. The more important take away is all QB's have struggled in this offense. We essentially had no Running game until Nagy gave up play calling and Pagano has made the defense worse. I am appreciative that Pace did not sign Trubisky to a long term deal or pick up 5th year option. We could be saddled with a Carson Wentz (According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $128 million, including over $107 million guaranteed) or Jared Goff (ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Goff and the Rams agreed on a four-year, $134 million extension with $110 million guaranteed) who are on par with Trubisky.
I hope we replace Phillips with a football guru. I let Pace stick around for another year with a President of football operation between him and McCaskey ensuring he does not sell the future to save his ass with little hope of success. Nagy and Pagano need to be replaced. Let the new head of football operations have a year to sort this mess out.
There is little chance we get to draft a starting QB at pick 20. I hate to say it but see little choice but to give Trubisky a one year deal. To give it half a chance for success Nagy can not be the one leading him.
And guess what? After all those high draft picks, they are still going to suck.
On the flip side, there are well-run teams like Pats, Seahawks, Packers that are solid every year without constantly going in the tank like Jets, Jags, Bengals, etc. for draft picks. This is not the time to panic and get rid of players so that we can go 1-16 to draft a QB. I want to dump Trubisky, take the best available QB (maybe even Phil Rivers for one year), resign ARob, and beat the Packers next year.
