We are not going to make a Super Bowl run for at least a few years. It would be delusional to think otherwise. If that is the case then why not reload the roster with young talent? In the meantime maybe we can off-load some of our older players who may have a bit of value on the market. Stockpile a few more draft picks out of it. I'd rather try something like this than just watch the guys grow older as we trot out mediocre teams. Let's at least try to take a chance at turning the franchise around.
I'm not angry or even upset over the season we just had. I'm not angry with Pace or Nagy. Not anymore. I'm beyond that. They are both nice guys with moderate ceilings of talent. Not bad by any means but nothing special. This season was pretty much what we see most years here over the past 30+ years or so. Mediocrity. It defines us in the Super Bowl era for the most part. I'd rather take a shot at:
1. Bring in a new GM and give him a shot at doing better than mediocre.
2. Bring in a HC who is better than Nagy... at least try. Nagy is liked by his players but so was Mr. Mediocre, Lovie Smith. Smith > Nagy by the way. At least we had multiple divisional championships, a conference championship and a Super Bowl appearance... but he was still Mr. Mediocre for most of those years.
3. Sell any older assets for draft picks if possible.
4. Improve our cap health.
5. I honestly would be happier with some tough years if we were going all-out like this to break out of the mediocrity. In fact, even if we had to endure a tank season I'd at least feel good about having a shot at a top QB versus just languishing in mediocrity with no hope of drafting a top QB. I really don't think anything changes much here in Chicago until the Bears draft a stud QB. I'm basing that on the last 30+ seasons. No QB = No Hope. JMO.
Phillip's has hired how many GMs now? 1 did enough to get to and lose a SB.
He doesn't deserve another shot at it, and saying he has hired anyone is a huge overstatement as he had to hire people to tell him who to hire for the gm job. Nothing changes until he is gone.
Teddy, Pace, Nagy and Pags all need to go. Trade the assets (including Mack) and reload through the draft. Soonest we’d see a reasonable record would probably be 3 years but if they’re on the right path who knows, it maybe sooner.

Yep, been saying this since we hit the skids mid-season and lost 6 straight.
Fact is, unpleasant as it may be, we aren't going to be truly competitive in 2021 and probably not in 2022 either....unless we somehow believe Foles is gonna catch lightning in a bottle for a 2nd time.
We have neither a franchise QB nor a promising potential one on the roster. The O needs more weapons and OL help, particularly at OT. The defense is still good but is aging and showing early signs of decline. Several of its key components (Trevathan, Hicks, Mack, Quinn, and Fuller) are either in or past their prime years.
One more factor--Aaron Rodgers has seen a late career resurgence under Matt LaFleur and its hard to foresee us catching up to GB the next couple years until he starts to decline noticeably. It's hard to be a "consistent contender" when you are basically playing for 2nd place (and a wildcard) in your division. Real perennial contenders are teams that are winning their division most years and rarely finishing worse than 2nd.
So the Bears need to take a "short-term pain, long-term gain" type of attitude and accept that 2021 is a rebuilding year and 2022 probably will be too. Make a THREE YEAR PLAN and act accordingly.
That means treading lightly in FA for a year or two and focusing heavily on the key position groups in the draft--QB, OL, and DL/Edge.

+1
All of that makes sense but especially crafting a solid 3 year plan. And stick to it. Treat every single draft pick as priceless in value. Make every draft bullet count.
