I put Vaughters in there because he is only 1/2 sack behind Quinn and has MORE tackles. Quinn has only 18 tackles, which is about half of the 30-something he has been having in recent years. Really, it would be hard to find a non-QB worse than Quinn when it comes to not playing up close to his contract. Quinn has a 5-yr. $70,000,000 contract. It is a disaster for Bears cap, because we have only about $10M cap space (assuming the new $175M cap). If we cut him, his dead cap hit is $23M, so we have to keep him another year. It sure would be nice if he could finally get his SH*T together for at least ONE game on Sunday and give us a sack or two on Rodgers.

Looking at this list. What is up with all the D-line. The only two who have respectable numbers are Mack and Nichols. Hicks with 3.5? I'm a big Hicks fan but we really need to draft his replacement, he's going to be 32 next year and is in real decline. Quin is just not a good scheme fit for this defense.
Even with Mack only having 8 sacks he is the second highest grade defender:
Is Quinn's fit in Chuck's scheme the problem, or is it just Chuck's scheme? If Vic were here, I'd agree, Quinn doesn't fit.
I don't know what's wrong with Quinn, I'm wondering if it's not injury related.
My thoughts are, scheme has hurt Hicks more with the change to Chuck. Well, that and Eddie not playing. I'm curious if Nichols can step into Hicks role with the success he's had this season, but enter Eddie Goldman back into his NT role.
I'm curious if the DL/Quinn will play better with a true space-eater (Goldman) compared to the more athletic NT (Nichols).
Multiple sources told Brad Biggs a couple of weeks ago that Quinn has been battling a nerve issue in his foot (Drop Foot) all season long. Nagy came out later and said Quinn was healthy and not playing hurt. Apparently teammates have relayed that Quinn has the drop foot nerve issue. So who do you believe? If Quinn does have some nerve issue that affects his foot then that's a problem obviously. It certainly would help explain what we are seeing (or not seeing) on the field on gamedays. But who knows... but why would teammates make up something like this? That doesn't make sense.

My thought is Pags turned a strength into an average D. If the D craps the bed tomorrow he needs to go.

I think it could be a combination of all these factors mentioned so far. Having only 2 sacks on the season is so far below his history that it raises the question. They asked Pagano about it the other day. At first he ducked the question, but then somebody mentioned that Lance Briggs said on a podcast that Quinn runs past the QB. Pagano admitted that has been the pattern. If he is strictly a speed rusher and his foot problem has slowed him a step, that would account for a lot of it. He doesn't seem to have the leg power to turn the corner like Mack does. Pagano's scheme being inferior to Fangio's may be another. And if the DBs are playing loose coverage, we might be getting fewer "coverage sacks" this year...not sure about that one.
Is this gonna become a recurring thread theme? "What's up with **Insert Name Here**" by Davidl?
You will be pleased to know that I do not have any more planned at this time. But I was thinking of starting one for the greatest OVER-achievers this season. Santos came first to mind. He has been amazing -- hope that doesn't jinx him tomorrow!
