Is Trubisky playing better? Yes Has he played against bottom half defenses? Yes Is that his fault? No but it makes it tougher to evaluate. Has he made big errors? Yes (cost 1 game & gave Vikes hope today)
Things must be put in perspective. If one was to watch Trubisky's last few games is there anything that screams franchise QB? U I've seen nothing remarkable out of Trubisky. 3 decent games and 2-1 vs inferior teams. This is the part of the schedule that everyone before the season had marked wins down for.
I believe Nagy has to go. His blundering last season with the oline, failure to coach up Trubs, Foles being a train wreck, Pags jacking up our D, and now we’re seeing someone else excel at running the offense lead me to question what value does Nagy bring? Nothing. If we keep Pace, we try and keep Trubs on a short term contract, draft a qb and go from there.

All true but this team isn't designed in a way you desperately need a franchise QB. If we had average ish QB play it's enough. We woulda beat Eagles in 18 if not for kicker. If our defense was Top 5 (or #1) defense like they should be and we got the same play outta Tru as last 3 games theres no reason we can't have deep playoff runs. Itd almost be better because Mitch could be on a major team friendly deal rather than a contract that hamstrings the team. I'd personally be okay with decent QB and a super strong team around him while we draft and develop players around him until we hit on a true franchise QB that elevates everyone and transcends the scheme/game, something incredibly rare.
I'd say Tru has improved and even if hes not a world beater we can win in playoffs, especially if we have the money saved to invest in OL and skill positions. I need smart football with no turnovers and let the D go to work and with Tru seems to be trending that way. Give me Alex Smith and a monster/complete team around him over a Watson with no one to help. Although just typing that damn do I want Watson. But really be like Chiefs, contender with Smith as they build a monster roster and then go get your guy when you see him. Let him sit behind Mitch and then take over the league.
I dont think hes the "answer" however theres a lot worse options out there and if we move on I think a lot of Bears fans may be disappointed because we definitely could take one step forward two steps back when he leaves.
Do I want a true franchise QB ala Rodgers? HELL YES. Do I believe we can win with Mitch? Yeah, I kinda do. If the D had done what they're paid to do we would be 3-0 right now in probably dominant fashion. If we bench Nagy as playcaller rather than Mitch against Falcons I think we're sitting with 8-10 wins and a lock for extended playoff qualification.

Honestly though. He ran with Coward so long for what reason? He stubbornly kept Foles even when it was obvious he wasn't the answer. He refused to run the ball with Monty as he lamented not having an identity yet. This teams recent success seems to be in spite of Nagy rather than because of him. I'm so curious to see where we go from here.

Def cost the Bears the game vs Det, not Tru, the OT getting beat like a drumb is the 2nd in line in that Lions game. Mitch was the only reason they were in that game w/a shot to win it.
Also no one said anything about remarkable, merely markedly better under a system that works to his strengths.
As for what you do?
Nagy has a 2 year contract, if they finish .500 or better he might well stay w/the understanding that the playcalling is staying w/Lazor. If he doesn't like it he can quit.
Pace stays, Lazor has shown his players aren't the biggest problem, the play calling and game plan were.
Pagano, needs to go, the def cannot be giving up 25+ points to bad teams, and Det and Minny are bad teams, especially w/at least at some points big leads. Instead they let the other team get back in it, rarely stepping on their throat.
Mitch, not sure how you keep him. You have little to no cap, and he has no reason to stay w/a team/HC that has gone out of it's way to play to all his weaknesses while telling him to not play to his strengths. The team would also have to deal w/a media that has done nothing but trash the pick and the play since the minute it happened. Not sure either need to stay around.
If they could bring him back, it makes it easier to rebuild that OL and start looking for an OLB to replace Quinn.

Sticky situation we're in atm.
I don't think the Bears should skip drafting a QB in 2021 nor in 2022.
In Franchise QB I wasnt referring to Arodg level (which would be incredible) who will finish on the Mt Rushmore of QBs when his career is over
Imagine if the Bears had drafted a Matt Ryan, Phillip Rivers, Big Ben, Tony Romo, Matt Stafford level QB. Bears have never had a QB this good nor will they ever have one of this caliber if they don't draft QBs.

Gotta put things in perspective.
You are arguing about why this game was close and who it was on?
That is what I mean about putting things in perspective.

Who was the game on for being close? The def, not even a discussion. All the talent and money is on that side, they have to hold a Cousins led O 24 or less, not 27 w/a real shot to get 30+
This teams identity, based on salary and talent is defensive, not the O. There are no game changing talents on the O. So every game where the O does their job(24+ pts) is 100% on the Bears Def to finish off and win.
We agree I don't see how they keep him, but it's not b/c he's a terrible qb, he'll get another shot in the NFL before his career is over. And if he goes to someone running a system like the Bears are right now he'll do okay for himself if they have the pieces that allow a qb to succeed.

but I'm saying do both. Draft QBs every year until you find that guy. Draft a QB next year and year after and on and on until you have an upgrade. I'm merely saying we can also win with Trubisky while we search. Just because the Chiefs had Alex Smith doesn't mean they stopped going after QB. Steelers draft QBs regularly. Wentz was the guy (they thought) but they still went after Hurts. Favre - Rodgers - Love.
