This analysis I don't agree with. We think Robinson isn't open but remember that open in the NFL means different things than when we all played on the street. There was separation between the two trailing defenders and the two in front of Robinson. Mitch dropped that ball in between 4 defenders, was leading Robinson pretty well and hits him in the hands. The ball goes off Robinson's hands. Pretty much every WR around where Robinson wants to be paid makes that catch. That was a good throw by Mitch and Robinson dropped it.
This seems to me to be a case of "oh it didn't work, must blame Mitch!" Anyone else attempting that throw gets props for being aggressive and throwing a nice ball between the defenders. But Mitch gets knocked by a Chicago guy who should know better.
There are other throws you can knock Mitch for (the Ginn throw on 4th down comes to mind) but not this one. Robinson has to and should have caught that ball.
The tweeter claims through a screen shot that Robinson only got one hand on the ball as it was 'uncatchable.: Guess he didn't see this from his own video.

I'm gonna disagree with you a little here.
In my convo with Butkus in the other thread this is the one "bad decision" during week 1 I blame Mitch for. He threw at a triple covered receiver (ARob of course!) when he had better options available. And he had time too, not like it was jailbreak pass rush.
I concur that he actually threw a pretty good ball--way better than that atrocious 4th down to Ginn--into a tight window but even so, that's a pretty tough catch to make. Not impossible but I wouldn't put that in the "shoulda caught it" category. Fully extended arms at full sprint in heavy traffic--catchable but hardly easy.
The real point is, Mitch had better places to go with the ball on that play.

I'll give you that he had better options. My complaint is that the ball Mitch threw was catchable, Robinson should have had it. Don't let Robinson off the hook here. Top tier receivers make that catch all the time. Robinson makes that catch and we are all praising Mitch for being bold with the ball and making a great throw. Robinson doesn't catch it and Mitch is a terrible QB (you aren't saying that, but others are.) I'm not a Mitch apologist, I think Foles should be starting, but that was a good throw.
I guess we can agree to say---Good throw, bad decision because he had another option.

That was the one play Sunday where I thought Mitch made a poor decision but threw an otherwise good pass.

We won't even talk about the Ginn throw. That was poor decision-poor throw--poor everything.

Dunno, the decision might have been a good one. I think Ginn had actually beaten his guy and was open. It was also 4th down and 7 so he had take a shot downfield a bit.
But yeah, the pass was horrendous. That one and the Kmet one were really awful. These kind of plays are the stuff that fuels the national sports media narrative of Trubisky being a hopeless bust.

I have to correct something I mentioned above to mpbears68 . The Ginn miss was a good call by Nagy and Ginn won the route. Mitch missed him (Nagy said it was tipped, you be the judge.)

I've noticed over the years that even the best receivers have their share of dropped balls. They make up for it by making plenty of great catches. That particular play was catchable but not an easy catch when you watch it realtime. But yeah, AR should have caught it. At least I think so. Regarding Mitch that day, he had some wonderful plays and some not so wonderful plays. I think there is a temptation to over-react to his rough plays (not you but others) this season because we have Foles waiting in the wings. But for any other QB it would be perfectly reasonable to expect that there would be some rust to knock off this season in particular. But Mitch is under the microscope this season. And I get why. But geesh, the guy posted a nice come-from-behind win and hit 3 TDs (could have had one or two more) and finished with a 104.2 passer rating in the win.
I'm just gonna watch and see how all these players, Mitch included, to see if they can improve from game to game this year. Heck I have Mitch starting on my FF team against the Giants. My other QB is Goff and I actually feel better starting Mitch than Goff. I think he could have a very decent game on Sunday. Man it would be incredibly good to start this season 2-0 and also have Mitch playing decent ball. I'm just glad football is back - and that I didn't have a heart attack when I heard AR might not get signed :-)
