Trubisky: "we never gave up on each other"

You're not wrong and his touch was way off the majority of the game, but some of those throws were very near misses.  Just off the top of my head correct me if I'm wrong.

Harris was just lead a stride long on a good read.  He still for his TD pass, there. 

I thought Miller down the sideline before the half was going to be caught, live.  It was just a touch long from leading him up field for a big one on a difficult throw to keep it away from the trail CB.

It goes the other way, too.  Arob flailed at a rocket to the middle of the field deep to extend a drive. 

We all know he has shown to miss some easy throws because of lack of touch and misfires.  How many QBs get every throw scrutinized like that? I mean, I guess a lot because there's crazy people everywhere, but jebus.  I saw some really bad plays and throws all over football, this weekend.  A few guys studded out, but completions seemed low all over. 

I buy big into the lack of prep and "rust."  It's the hardest position in sports to play and you've been limited to limited scrimmages and practice.  Have to give this some time and hope he and Nagy take off together. I guarantee Matt is going to drill the footwork and pocket jitters into his head on film.

Everyone knows the headlines that would have been, but he did it when it mattered and that's a great trait.

Do you think it's unfair to scrutinize him?  He's a #2 overall pick in the final year of his contract who's 5th year option was declined and saw his team bring in a former Super Bowl MVP as competition.  Of course he's gonna get scrutinized--quite literally tens of millions of dollars are on the line.  And its not like Trubisky has established himself as a franchise starter entitled to some benefits of the doubt.  He's fighting for his career right now and his team is watching very carefully to make a decision about him.

His 4thQ heroics today, and I fully acknowledge he played really well at the end, have probably bought him 2-3 more starts minimum worth of grace period.  That's fair.  

Before that unfortunately, it looked like he was heading to the bench as soon as next week.  He looked just like last year.  He was something like 8 for 20, 100 yards, 0 TD, 48 Rating.  He's in his 4th year for crying out loud....excuse time is over.  




The playcalling early in the game was very conservative. I appreciated that we did try to establish the run, and I thought we were able to. Monty, Cohen, and Patterson all had good touches and runs. But I still feel like we have the training wheels on, and throws behind the LOS make me angry. Let him throw the ball down field. He throws crap and interceptions, fine. Bring in the big dick Nick and be done with it. It's the NFL, you can't hide your QB. He's not a freshman playing up b/c of injury or some stupid thing. I agree that he gets a couple more starts... and he should. But we should see more, and better, and not just spurts.

I've now heard on 2 post game shows that there wasn't just 1 TD play taken away from Mitch via a bad PI call(to ARob) but there was a 2nd also, to Graham.

W/no PI there are 2 more TD's, he could/should have had 5. If nothing else that's 2 drives that should have ended w/a TD after being moved to the 1yd line b/c of 2 PI's.
