I read that EddieP needs to be on the roster in order to go on IR. So if EP is hurt, on Sunday/Monday EP goes to IR and Santos on the 53 man roster. No one signing Santos is the Bears bet.

I’m a Pineiro guy, all the way. If he weren’t an injury ? I wouldn’t even mention it. I just think Matt Gay has a good future in this league and he is free right now when we may need a kicker. I could be wrong, but I like him.

After thinking on this a bit more, I do agree with you. And I guess it is important for us to remember that the formation of a solid kicker, at the NFL level, can take some time and patience. It is unlike any other position in football. It takes a different kind of mental toughness. At least that's the way it seems to me. Kickers (all kickers) are going to experience times of failure in games. Sometimes a missed kick can cost the team a game. Sometimes this can even end a season (we've seen that countless times over many years). In fact we've seen Super Bowl wins/losses come down to a kick. A kicker has to have the physical gifts to hit kicks, but also the mental toughness to bounce back after failure. Not every kicker has this mental toughness. Eddy P. & Matt Gay are both young people so we really shouldn't give up on either of them yet (and not saying we are). Gay could end up being a rock solid kicker (Eddy too). I guess what I am trying to say is that we need to look at that rookie season in 2019 for both of them and take it with a grain of salt. Both are works in progress.
You are right. It wouldn't hurt to consider Matt Gay, especially if Eddy is going to be put on IR. Gay was the top draft pick at his position in 2019. I think you are on to something here, lklrlolnlilklsox .
