Strongly disagree, that ol ranked #2 overall by FO. And amari cooper and the rest were well more then the bears had, same at TE.
Like bs said better then tru sure, but not 35-40 mil in cap better

but 30 mil isn't 35 let alone 40 is it. Give that kid 35-40 mil and you lose out on the pieces that allow him to be that effective.
no one is talking about tru and those #'s it's about Dak and his cap value, and Dak's over estimating which is why a team known for splurging on players passed b/c of the talent around him which is FAR greater then anything Tru has case closed.

I’m kinda surprised so many of you guys are not that high on Dak, because statistically speaking he would be the best Bears QB since Luckman. But I totally understand why you wouldn’t want his contract. In all fairness, almost no one is worth that kind of money, so that’s not exactly a valid argument. And before we decide if the Bears should go after him or not, let’s analyze the alternatives.
I’ve said a few months ago that the wise thing to do is let Foles be the starter this year and if the coaching staff still believes in Mitch after the season, offer him a cheap one-year deal to further evaluate him before making a final decision. At least that would buy us some time. However, some of you thought this scenario’s unrealistic. The truth is, Foles is a decent bridge QB but nothing more and is definitely not the long-term answer. So, if it’s neither Mitch or Foles, what are our options?
Unless we crap the bed, we ain’t getting a Top 5 pick to select Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields. And even though I like North Dakota State’s Trey Lance, I think it’s very risky to go all in on a mid-round pick from a small school and make him the future of the franchise.
So, forget the 2021 draft. What’s next?
Free Agency? Let’s see…. Mitch, Kizer, Rivers, Dalton, Brissett…. and Dak. Those are the only names available next offseason.
Whether you like it or not, if you want a good, reliable and healthy QB to go w/ this elite defense, Dak is the only one that makes sense. Not because he’s “worth” it but because he’s the only option there is.

It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. Plan-A could happen in that the light bulb goes on in Mitch's head this season and then we already have our QB. Plan-B is Foles. I wouldn't rule out the draft route if we need a Plan-C. We could have a mid-round pick or higher & get a decent guy. Mahomes was a 10th pick of the draft. Watson a 12th pick. Lamar Jackson 32nd. Dak was a 4th rounder. Garoppolo 2nd round. Russel Wilson a 3rd round pick. Aaron Rodgers 24th pick. I'd honestly be fine with a Kirk Cousins level guy (4th round), or a Derek Carr (2nd round).
I agree with you that we could use Foles as a bridge. I also totally understand that the defense is in a win-now mode so it sucks that Pace has struggled to build an offense all of these years and we find ourselves in a tough spot no matter what we do. I do feel like we are screwed if Pace can't draft offense very well. I just look at that offense after 6 years of drafts and 6 years of FAs and it's not much of a work product to showcase. We all witnessed his work product last season for the offense and it was a total fail. That's a problem.

Does he come w/the rest of the Cowboys Offense? And even at that, is he worth 40mil b/c that's what he wants and even the Cowboys scoffed at that.

The problem is paying a QB that much coming from another team. This is very different than paying a lot of money for a QB who is already on the team. How much of Dak's stats are him and how much is due to the talent around him? There are a number of examples of QBs having big numbers on one team and then when they switch to another team those numbers drop significantly. It's not an obvious decision and a real gamble.
To sign Prescott you will likely have to lock him up for several years as well. It's not just going to be a lot of money for one year and if things don't work out you can just move on. If he doesn't perform well you're stuck with a boat anchor on your team for years.

As I've said before, I wouldn't exactly be a fan of that hypothetical big contract, but again, what are our options here?
- Foles 2020 and Mitch 2021
- Foles 2020 and 2021
- Mitch 2020 and 2021
- Mitch/Foles 2020 and rookie 2021
- Mitch Foles 2020 and FA 2021
It would be Foles/rookie in 2021 if Mitch isn't it. If Mitch is it then it would be Mitch and whatever they throw behind him. Foles is here for 2 reasons this year and next, which is why he has a 3 year deal where he can opt out after any of them, all bc Mitch could fail, but the team hasn't bought into that theory like everyone else has.
Dak on his own, no problem w/him. I wanted the Bears to draft the kid b/c of his potential. Dak + 35-40 mil I have a huge problem with b/c his ceiling is hidden by the talent Dal has put around him; which is why they have balked at the 40mil thought. It's to much cap for a guy that has won nothing.
3 playoff games in 4 years and won 1. You don't pay a qb w/a losing playoff record 35-40mil a year, I said this earlier in the year and was told w/no uncertainty that Dallas would pay him whatever he wanted b/c they had to, b/c that is what the market dictates apparently, blank check to qb's w/pretty numbers and no win's b/c "franchise" has been pinned to them by the media.

Doesn't Foles have a clause in his contract stating he can get out of 2021 without any repercussion? Relying on Foles next year isn't smart.
Dak is a proven veteran that can win now with this defense.
So the answer is this. Go short term with Dak and try to win with this defense or tear everything down and rebuild the entire roster again and hope the new rookie QB can be average like Dak?
I don't know about you but I go with the former...

Didnt I state that in what you quoted?
He can get out, but he isnt going to if he is the starter, its if Mitch clicks and gets a new contract and is starting.
The year after is the question bc no doubt they draft a qb high this yearif mitch fizzled and that kid will play his sophomore year. My guess is both sides dont want Foles here year three, Foles will want one last shot at starting and the Bears will want the sophomore kid to start

Bullshit (I've already debunked that myth earlier in this thread).
This is just another set of excuses being made for Trubisky.
