F him, he admitted earlier he should have been let go before this, now he's pissed he was fired?
How come people never talk about how much of a disappointment he was for the Bears? Not a bust by any means, but 3 good years out of 7 doesn't deserve the respect he gets from the fanbase.
3 good seasons, gets his extension and never plays more then 10 games the next 4 years, 2 of those years 8 games last year 4. Ya you deserved to be fired, and you admitted as much. And you hurt this team by hiding how hurt you were b/c you didn't want to lose that contract you weren't earning.
sorry rant over, been trying to hold my tongue on this guy for the last year or so.
The guy was mostly known thanks to his Dad. He was an outspoken player who always said the right things to have fans eat him up.
This is why I never take a players opinion serious when they're still playing in the NFL. Only once they leave/retire their true self comes out. Hopefully more people see that.
Well i tend to take everything they say w/a grain of salt b/c sometimes the butt hurt takes a few years to leave, if it ever does. Sometimes they start off w/no inherent bitterness. Briggs I never listen to, he comes off mad that the team let go of his coach, and then more upset that they didn't want any part of him after they hired Fox, as if his play on the field, and in the locker room had nothing to do with it. Kruetz on the other hand has seemed fine w/how it all went down and while he's biased about OL play and how the team should be more traditionally run oriented he also admits to his own bias's so it's easier to know when to listen and when to take that grain of salt.

Ummmm...he was a first round pick dude. Yes his dad is a hall of famer, but he was one of the best guards in the league before injuries derailed him. That has nothing to do with his dad.
If you read through Long's twitter account and that thread you'd see he really has no animosity. He just says that the current staff is the one's that let him go so why would they bring him back...which makes complete sense.

The guy had 1 great year and one pro bowl year as a good guard. Had another year in which he truly didn't deserve it. Has been useless since 2016-2019. 4 years and a big contract.
I wouldn't call him one of the best guards even in his prime. Compare Prime Long 2013-2015 vs Quenton Nelson 2018-2019. There is a HUGE difference...

LMAO! Ok...well since you've watched every snap Long has taken, and you've apparently watched every snap Nelson has taken...please...give your scouting report.
He had 3 pro bowl years, and also was voted All Pro one year. He was also moved from guard to tackle one year. But enough about that...commence with your scouting report of both players based off of your viewing every snap they've ever taken.

Yes a second all pro team ONCE and 3 pro bowls. Let's not forget Trubisky got a Pro Bowl... Pro Bowl is nothing but FAN SERVICE...
Josh Sitton was a far better Guard than Kyle Long in his career and far better during his time in Chicago compared to Long, should I bring in PFF findings during those seasons? Sorry but Long was overrated from the get go. Product of his name. Good player at his peak but nothing else.
Maybe its too early for you to see the light. Give it time, I was like you as well.

No no...I asked you for YOUR scouting report, since you're giving YOUR opinion. I don't care about PFF, which doesn't know their ass from their elbow. I want YOUR findings. So go ahead.

Better question, why Nelson as an example, he was a top 10 pick the Bears never had a shot at. Why Not Mike McGlinchey who the Bears passed on when needing a OT more then OG. Probably b/c he couldn't finish this season past and hasn't been great regardless.
Nelson is a stud, and no doubt farther along in his ability as he only ever played football w/no real issues outside of it. Long was looked at as a reach at the time, and proved any doubters wrong about his abilities to play OG before the season started. What screwed him was the move to OT which he hadn't played and trying to learn in the NFL ended up to much for him, its where he got hurt originally and was never the same after. He stays at RG I think he's still on this team playing at a high lvl.
When Kyle Long was healthy I thought he was an amazing OL. He made plays that I'd just shake my head at... power, speed, agility and he played with incredible passion. But he often wasn't healthy and "that" Kyle Long was a different guy to watch entirely. Now his body is extremely "high mileage" after a lot of serious injuries and he ought to stay retired. Injuries have shortened the careers of countless great players. This is nothing new. Probably the "poster guy" for this was Gale Sayers. One of the best RBs ever to play in the NFL but had a career cut short by injuries. The guy was so great that even with his brief career ended up in the Hall of Fame... and deservedly so.
Don't be angry with Long, or for the Bears drafting him. I'm just sad that injuries got to him and ended what could have been a great career spanning several years here.
