And there will be a correction, that has already started b/c those #'s will cost SB's to those teams. Dak is not 30 mil top tier qb, at all. He's a .500 playoff qb. He's more top mid tier then top tier. But Jones has never been known for being smart w/his money or his team, hense 0 SB's after the team Jimmy built team got old and broken up.
Where are the signs showing the correction? All signs point to more money getting spent towards the QBs.
If Dak is getting 30 million a year then the market is set on average QBs getting that.
QBs control the NFL. They will get paid. A bad QB can bring down a good team. Just look at Mitchell Trubisky... 8-8 team with an elite defense and good supporting cast...
Tanne tossed, cam tossed, dalton tossed etc. Guys that get to or win a sb, hell ya worth every dollar, guys that don't, is a great way to make sure your team stays out of contention.
Hate to say I told ya so but.....I TOLD YOU SO. (rumor is 2nd highest paid but regardless, well north of $30m/yr).
That's what starting QBs no longer on their rookie contract COST. Doesn't matter if you disagree or don't like it, or think it's stupid, or want to howl at the moon over it. It IS what is IS.
I mention this because we were discussing the Bears QB situation (pre-Foles trade) a few months ago and I was explaining why Carr's contract would have been very favorable and a steal for the Bears. He would have cost only ~ $19m AAV.

The only "correction" that might happen is if the league-wide salary cap takes a big hit from Covid. Even so, QBs will still be disproportionally overpaid even if the absolute number goes down.
You're living in a fantasy land if you think established vet starting QBs aren't gonna get paid like I mentioned UNLESS they've won a SB. Heck there's 2 in our own division who make $30m+ AAV who've never won a SB. Dak is about to join that list along with Watson.
It's simple supply and demand, my friend. The supply of starting caliber QBs is well below the demand level. You CAN win with a mid-tier (i.e., good but not great) QB depending on the makeup of the rest of the team. You CANNOT win with crappy QB play no matter what. The 2019 Bears are a perfect case-in-point there:
#1 Defense in the NFL by points surrendered (the metric that actually decides who wins and who loses), yet they didn't even make a wildcard berth.
Would it be easier for Dallas to win with Mahomes instead of Dak? Yeah, sure, of course. But Dak is good enough to make a run with IF they can put together the pieces around him. And once you have drafted and developed a QB like that who's good enough to start for the foreseeable future, it's really really hard to let him walk away and return once again the QB-wilderness. That's why Dak has all the leverage here.

There is no correction. That's fantasy talk. It's supply and demand. Until one of those elements changes dramatically, QBs will be at a premium.

Being paid more and being paid disproportionately more to the point it effects the teams ability to keep key players. Which paying an average qb 35 mil does. Rogers, brady, breed etc that win SBs when do it with limited help. Dak needs help, and paying him an extra 1 to 2 on top of what should be his qb salary other players doesnt allow that to happen

Then what's the alternative ric?
Draft a QB and hope he doesn't struggle his rookie contract and play like Mahomes or Watson? Then if he's average repeat the cycle over again until you get the next Mahomes?
QBs are this high cause its a premium position. An average QB will have major impact for a team vs a bad QB. That's why Cousins got paid...

And that's why Minny will never achieve anything big as long as he's their starting QB.

Come on....
Nobody is saying that Cousins is elite but he's plenty good enough to win with. His Passer Rating has been over 95 4 of the last 5 seasons, including 107 last year. He won a playoff game against a very tough opponent on the road in one the hardest places in the NFL to win as a visitor (New Orleans).
He's not great but he's good enough. I ask again--what's the alternative? Is there someone better than him out there waiting to be signed?

That's exactly the point. All you have to do is be a top-20 QB and you're pretty much guaranteed to start and get a big contract. There is no alternative because there aren't enough QBs who are "good enough".
Which roster is better?:
A) 2020 Dallas Cowboys PLUS Dak Prescott MINUS $30 million
- OR -
B) 2020 Dallas Cowboys MINUS Dak Prescott PLUS $30 million

I mean the guy has a career rating of 96.8 and had a great last year with 107.4
Let me remind you that Tom Brady has a career rating of 97
If you were the vikings who would you rather have? Cousin who is average to above average QB vs a rookie QB who needs years to develop before he gets paid like Cousins?

And I would add to that, it ain't easy getting a "Cousins-level" quarterback in the draft. The Chicago Bears have never drafted a QB who ended up having a career passer rating that Cousins has. Never. Ever. Even old Sid Luckman had a 75 career passer rating. Cutler 85. McMahon 80. Grossman 70. Kramer 80. Billy Wade 73. Blanda 51. Bobby Douglas 47, Jim Miller 76. Harbough 74. LOL, Rusty Lisch 35.1. Rick Mirer 37.7. LOL and those are the best of a very very very sorry bunch.
Trubisky is 85.8 career so far.
LOL, odds are that you have a better chance of getting struck by lightening during a Bears game (while having the winning Lotto ticket in your pocket) - than the odds of the Bears drafting a QB at even a Cousins level.
