7th round 227 pick OT/OG Lachavious Simmons.

Ryan Pace just refuses to draft QB....again.  I don't get this guy sometimes.

Ever get the feeling that Pace simply isn't very comfortable drafting skill positions on offense?  I sure do.  He just doesn't seem to have the same eye for talent that he does on defense.  

Anthony Miller is probably the only draft success he's had on Offense in a skill position thus far.  In rounds 4-7 where you look to find "hidden gems", he sure does love to draft DBs, doesn't he?  In a year where it screamed OFFENSE, I would have doubled up on speedy WR (Quez Watkins in the 6th?) rather than getting yet another unneeded nickel corner.  In the 7th this year, go OL-QB or maybe OL-RB?

I just get the feeling he lacks confidence in evaluating offensive skill players and he's been burned by some high-profile misses, so he sticks with what he feels more comfortable with, which is usually defense and OL.

Cool your freakin' jets, dude.  

Ryan Pace has drafted ONE QB in 6 years, that's it.  So don't try to tell me that's "normal", especially for an organization that is constantly having to buy QBs in FA and the trade market.  And this from a GM who said he "wanted to draft QB every year" when he was hired.  

I was hoping for Morgan this draft.  Obviously, we didn't have much of a shot at him the way it fell.
After Morgan, I thought Fromm, Luton, McDonald, and Gordon were worthy of a late round pick.  We got none of them.  Gordon made it all the way to UDFA and then promptly signed elsewhere.  Could have secured him with pick #227--are you really telling me that Lachievious Whatshisname from a small school in a nothing conference wouldn't have made it to UDFA and a starting QB from the PAC-12 wasn't worth securing with a measley throwaway 7th round pick?

Newsflash, hotshot:
EVERY SINGLE PLAYER drafted in rounds 6-7 has "likely career backup" as their scouting projection.  That's why they weren't drafted earlier.

Regarding the "hijack", this thread was the last pick in the draft so I do think it fits.  Are we really expecting a ton of posts about about a small-school 7th round OL who most likely will never make it off the Practice Squad?


Getting back to Pace's draft, I was highly complimentary of it with 2 caveats: 

A) I think the Vildor pick was "curious" as we are already stacked at CB and we just drafted a nickel last year in Shelley.  Don't really understand the thinking there--there was no O-player available in the late 5th that was worth a shot at for a team that sucked on offense all last season?  Come on, I call BS on that.
B) Like I said, I'm still waiting for the Bears to draft a project QB or two.  Even if he just becomes a "backup".  Do it anyway.

Pace has drafted EIGHT day-3 DBs and ZERO QBs other than Trubisky for fucks sake.
