Pace needs to do everything in his power to land Howard here.
Having Robinson, Miller, and Howard on the field would be a fun offense to watch and great for a new QB coming to the team when we offload Trubisky.
What would you trade for him?
Remember, he has only 1 year left on his contract before FA.
Bucs traded a 4th round pick for Gronk and their 7th...
I expect something similar for Howard. Even with a one year deal. He's young and has potential to be an elite TE or at the very least an above average one.

You didn't answer my question. And we don't have a 4th to trade.
What would you trade for him knowing he's a FA in 1 year?

I would trade our 50th overall pick for OJ Howard, 76th overall pick ( Their 3rd round pick ), and 161 overall pick (Their 5th round pick).

Yikes!
That values Howard at 164 draft points which is roughly a mid-3rd round draft pick (#85). That's a terrible deal for a 1 year rental. Especially considering he scored a grand total of 1 TD last year. NO FREAKIN WAY I make that trade.
I'd offer Tampa a 6th round pick and walk away if they say no.

I'd give them a 6th and 4th next year contingent on him signing a long term deal.

That's not a bad option. I wouldn't give up more than a 6th for this year but a contingency for a long term deal is fine.
What about Brate??? Is Tampa interested in dealing him? He'd be more of a move-type-TE in the mold of Burton. His cap hit this year is only $4.2m, he's locked up for 4 seasons, and his guaranteed money is out after 2020.

Don't discount OJ Howard as a blocker...he's not just solely a receiving option. In fact Arians used Howard a lot as an in line blocker and kept him home because of his pass pro ability. I like Brate too...but he's older and has some injury issues. Howard is the younger, more explosive athlete. Ran a 4.5 at 250.

I know. I'm just wondering if Tampa might be more willing to part with Brate. They don't know how long Gronk is gonna be around so might want to hang on to Howard who is youngest of their 3 TEs as you say.
Brate is only 28 and like I pointed out is essentially on a 1 year deal with 3 option years to follow. If he disappoints or gets hurt in 2020, he can be released next offseason with no dead cap. If he plays well, he's locked up. Perhaps Tampa is willing to part with him for cheap.
PS: Bucs have THREE tight ends better than anything the Bears have had since Marty Bennett

Tampa gave Brate a 6 year deal in 2018 and they just restructured the deal, so I think a trade is not going to happen. Howard is likely the odd one out.
