Mitch wont start unless foles let's him ... by not turning up
Wanted to add for me Mitch plays afraid with fear.. not a great asset at qb
I'm open to whomever. I've already thrown out the 2019 season as one where "everything that could go wrong - did" and we should see a better year here. Mitch could (could) surprise us. He is the 2018 QB of a 12-win team that was a top-10 scoring offense that year @ 26.3ppg. His numbers were not great that year but his passer rating of 95.4 was only 2 points off from guys like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers... so it wasn't horrible.
Whomever starts this year will probably do better than last season. Probably significantly better. If the team can stay relatively healthy I don't know why they couldn't end up closer to the 12-win 2018 season rather than the 8-win 2019 season. Of course only time will tell.
Hey, welcome to the messageboard. GREAT to have you here!

So when Long says something he's wrong, but when someone like Thomas Jones does, we accept it like it gospel? Got it.
I gave up on Mitch halfway through last season. IMO Foles was brought in to start. I preferred Carr over Bridgewater as I've never seen what everyone else did in Bridgewater.
Regardless, Mitch or Foles isn't the long term answer. I also don't believe a QB taken in 5/6/7 will prove to be a long term answer either. Better luck next year.
To be fair I didn't agree w/Long or TJ. But it's not as simple as agreeing w/every ex player or disagreeing w/every ex player. It depends on the subject, their reasoning behind it and if you believe, or have a reason to believe them. I don't listen to most of the ex Lovie era guys, especially regarding post lovie era teams. Many(Briggs for example) seems to be team lovie, not team Bears. So anything he says is taken w/a HUGE grain of salt.
Long has a history of spouting off, and being wrong or poorly backed.
TJ begged to be traded, now complains about the guy that traded him? Angelo could have said piss off but didn't. TJ/CB centric O along w/an all time great D and ST's got this team to the door of a SB. Angelo would have been correct to tell TJ to continue to put up good tape for his next contract, and he'll have that chance w/the Bears. Holding to his word, is part of the reason this team never got close to another SB.
What matters is what we all saw - Mitch, in season 3 where he should naturally have taken a big step forward, instead ROYALLY SUCKED.
Let's not sugarcoat it--he FREAKIN SUCKED. Any kind of reasonably competent QB play and we would have made the playoffs. No way the team would have traded for Foles if Trubisky had put up a semi-decent performance last year. Mitch's career, with the Bears anyway, is now hanging by a thread. If he doesn't win the job in TC and play well, he's gone a year from now.
Mitch would have to regress so much to lose the job to Foles...and i've explained it before so don't bother if you feel the itch to inject your side lol
Bottom line is everyone needs to pick it up on that offense. RBs CAN'T average 3 yards a carry... WRs CAN'T drop balls, and try to catch things casually or flashy... Olinemen CAN'T get by on half-assed effort when run blocking AND pass blocking...
Of course now that we have Kmet, I'm just glad Foles is on the team as well. Surely working with Ertz for half his career will provide some good advice for the kid.
