I've been feeding my football cravings by streaming some old Bears games. I was thinking it might be fun to start a thread with some of our favorite Bears games of the past. Here's one of mine that I just re-watched recently. It was a pivotal game back then. Yes, the Bears were an awesome team that year. But it was also a time where even Bears fans were kindof having a doubt in the back of their mind (like Bears fans today) that the team would blow it and crush our hopes. The Bears just were not 100% "for real" until after this curb stomping of the Dallas Cowboys. Back then the Cowboys had the "America's Team" hype and somehow many wanted to see if the Bears would beat them in this 11th game of the season at Dallas. The Bears would lose 2 weeks from this game at Miami.
It was a HUGE game for Bears fans. LOL, and I have to admit I liked John Madden & Pat Summerall games. If you're bored and needing a football fix, this is a good game to watch:
I actually like watching 81, 82 chargers games. My nostalgia bears game was a monday night overtime win over the jets. You can find it on YouTube. I had to go to bed for school and the bears were playing like trash. My grandmother recorded the game and after school i got to watch the bears pull out a win. All of 85 bears games are on yt. Look up year and teams and you can find em
Having our defense bail us out with a great return by Hester is by far one of my favorite Bears game of all time.
For a more modern approach:
If the 2018 Bears didn't collapse during week 1 against the Packers that would of been my favorite game. Mack's first game playing with us, mind you he didn't even practice with us, was very impactful and something I haven't felt from the Bears since 2006.
I had forgotten that Bears/Cards game... I think I'll watch that one next. That was one of my all-time favorite Bears games. I've never re-watched it since that game so it will be a real treat tonight to pop up some popcorn and watch it. Thanks for posting that one in particular. Classic for sure!
ps, how are you doing MOTM? Are you on lockdown too?
This is a fantastic video of the Bears 1963 championship season. This one has it all. Hall of Fame players from both teams... Papa Bear coaching them to the championship, Mike Ditka showcasing what a Hall of Fame TE looks like. Holey moley some good footage here:
This is pretty cool. It's not a game but pretty cool about Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus.
We are beginning to get some GREAT video recommendations in this thread. Let's keep 'em coming. During this virus lockdown it's nice to have something "positive" to watch. Thanks guys!!!
Here's the 1977 "Slush Bowl" against the NY Giants. Bears made the playoffs by winning this one. It was a slick field and Walter struggled. But it is a GREAT game if you liked watching Gary Fencik and Doug Plank play. And it's got Bob Avellini at QB :-)
Here are two videos that are BOTH worth watching. They are about Hall of Fame QB Sid Luckman. Sounds like he was a great guy in addition to being a great quarterback. The 2nd video here must have been one of his final interviews before he died. He talks slow in this video, but if you are patient and listen to what he has to say, it is fascinating regarding the early NFL and George Halas. Sid was a really classy guy. We drafted him in 1939 as the #2 overall pick of the NFL draft that year.
