Ya, again during the combine Hoge and Jahn's talked to Chicago media that talked to other nfl teams at the combine and they had nothing nice to say about ANYTHING Chicago offense related; pointed out the qb and the OL though as the biggest issues.

There is a reason there was turnover in the coaching room, specifically the OC/OL coach, and why they snagged a OG in FA and are likely going to snag an OT early this draft. And it's not because the OL was good, or average/slightly below average. That turnover was the team telling fans loud and clear that the O was a huge problem.

No doubt if the contracts of Leno/Massie didn't require them to be on this team they're jobs would be as insecure as the QB's. Who was also not good, which is why they chucked the backup qb that was next to worthless for a guy that will be able to start if the qb is as bad as he was last year. Same w/TE, team just told you the TE's weren't good enough so they slapped a couple patches on it.

That Rams game was bad all around lol

Mitch had the hip issue going on(which i forgot about), and was also only benched for that drive after the Rams scored and had a double digit lead...Game Log

Point being, this guy breaks down plays all year and they were ALL the same. If the team lacks confidence in an area, it sure the hell shouldn't be at one player.

Honestly, they should all just be in the state of mind that they ALL held a role in the bad outcomes of last year, and focus on how they can correct that in order to be a more consistent team. I don't think there are groups of players OR COACHES pointing fingers in one direction.

Yeah, Nagy later tried to say the move (benching Trubisky near end of Rams game) was medical-related. But Mitch was back at practice in 2 days and started the very next week. Even very team-friendly reporters called it out as "BS" at the time. It was a strange move to say the least.

You can't bench and replace an entire offense of course, even if they deserve it. And yes, you are correct, that the QB is the focus and he probably gets extra blame when things aren't going well. That's just the way it is and it comes with the territory.

Maybe it was a BS reason...Maybe it was cus he had been off at times in that game...maybe Mitch tweaked something and he didn't want to push it with him in attempt to save him for the season after they went down by 10....IDK

They did go on a 3 game win streak after that game with Trubisky having 2 of his best games in that stretch, but it doesn't really matter. Even in that 3 game win streak, Trubisky still had his faults, but so did everyone else.

And you can bench the entire offense, but it'd be a hard move to pull off and keep your job lol

But then again if people see you bench the entire offense, they may realize it aint just one player screwing things up throughout the season.

I picked Mitch because he is a more talented player than Foles. The problem with Mitch partially stems from experience, which was a risk the organization took drafting him. Nothing says he doesn't grow in the offseason, while also getting his mind right. Also, it seems like he has issues throwing to his left, he's gotta get that fixed.

Now if he fails at this and come into camp looking like the same kid that lacked confidence last season, then Foles is easily the winner.

So I don't buy this logic. Mitch has the talent to win the job, he just has to do it. It would be a failure by the staff to simply hand the job off to Foles, just bc.

I say this, yet I'm not confident Mitch will, without a doubt, win the competition. I'm also not confident that Mitch shows out throughout the offseason the sputters during the early season opening the door for Foles.

How many players dress on game day? I actually don't think you can bench the whole offense. The majority of the offense, sure, but not all "11" players that make up the starting offense.

I'm pretty sure our backup center is/was our starting left guard. If that's fact, you still have a starter playing. Not important, just felt obligated to point that out. It would be a nightmare trying to attempt that with success.

Yeah, you hit a couple of great points that I agree with. The Bears knowingly took a risk drafting a kid with minimal experience as a starting QB. Dumb move though to take that kind of risk when there were better options that were less risky in that draft. JMO. Regarding the lack of experience, I figure that was a valid factor the first years in the NFL. This year? I mean, if he doesn't show he has the talent in his 4th season of NFL play, then I figure playing the "inexperience card" is not as valid. Or, even if it is, I think it just validates how dumb Pace's move was to draft a kid like this. The Bears needed a QB who could ramp up to the NFL sooner rather than later - to go with the solid defense we have.

Finally, I really agree with your point about the "confidence" factor. Physical talent in an NFL QB is nice, but without the confidence and mental gears it is useless. Utterly useless. We have all seen an army of physically gifted QBs fail in the NFL. I don't know about Mitch yet, but time is running out to prove he has what it takes to play at the NFL level with consistent solid play. The Bears have had so many different starting QBs (over 40 in the super bowl era) who have disappointed. Initially most of us have been very positive about them and made every excuse to "rationalize" their mediocre (or poor) play. But eventually we let the "denial" go and admit to ourselves they suck. I am still on the Mitch bandwagon at this point. LOL, I've bought into the reasons for him to have not bloomed into a solid QB. They could all be valid. But if he still struggles this year then it's time to move on. I'm glad we have Foles on the roster this season. Surely between Mitch and Foles we have 1 of the 2 who can be decent enough (not great but decent enough) that the team can get back into the playoffs again. I think that is reasonable to hope for.

Yeah, probably right.

I sometimes get a laugh when I read Bear fans ragging on rival QBs in comment sections (Kirk Cousins seems to be frequent target). This from a fanbase whose team hasn't developed, produced, or even acquired a consistently solid starting QB literally in decades. Cousins for instance might not be a great starter and he's probably overpaid but if were a BEAR, he'd the best QB we have had in a long long time.
