Dunno if you guys heard about this.
He's turning 31 this fall and is kind of a disappointment being a former first rounder w/ just 10 INTs in 8 seasons in Cincy, but you can never have enough depth, especially now w/ Prince A. gone.
I honestly have no idea how much cap we've got left, but this is the classic type of low risk/high reward player.
Kirkpatrick won’t command the type of money he did three years ago, but he would still offer the Bears a decent starting cornerback opposite Kyle Fuller. The 30-year-old has to be at a point where he wants to compete for a Super Bowl, and because of that, my hope is that he would come cheaper than expected.
With Kevin Toliver, Artie Burns and CFL free agent signing Tre Roberson competing for that spot, my belief is that Kirkpatrick would be the clear-cut winner if he were signed.
Last year, his season was cut short due to injury, but if healthy, Kirkpatrick is an above average cornerback, especially in man coverage.
From 2015 to 2018, Kirkpatrick totaled 49 passes defended, averaging double figures for four straight seasons. He is also sneaky when it comes to stopping the run, coming up with a handful of tackles for loss throughout his career.
At this stage, before the draft comes, Pace could solidify the cornerback position and not feel obligated to take one in the second round this year. To sign Kirkpatrick, Pace would have to move some money around by extending Allen Robinson and maybe restructuring another deal or two. But, those moves are expected to happen anyway.
Burns seems more like a reclamation project compared to Kirkpatrick coming in as an above average player.
Thinking about it, Pace has hit well on LB, DL, safety. Mack saved him on the edge. What's he done for bringing in corner talent? Fuller was already here. Prince was a bandage that has fallen off. Buster Skrine?
We are waiting in returns from: • Deiondre' Hall (oops, Hall turned into Kerrith Whyte) • Duke Shelley (fingers crossed on him) • and Stephen Denmark.
He should get credit for Bryce Callahan, but he's gone. At least that's one CB he got right as an UDFA.
Cre’von LeBlanc has gone on to find playing time since leaving the Bears.
Oh yeah, he brought in an intriguing prospects Michael Joseph (2018) and Xavier Crawford (late 2019).
Kevin Toliver could end up being his big winner if he outshines Burns and Tre Roberson to start on the outside opposite Fuller.
Can't say Pace hasn't thrown a lot of darts at CB but has struggled to nail the position down.

Tolliver was a 2nd-3rd round talent who fell to UDFA because of some past behavioral/maturity issues he has put behind him. Roberson is also legitimately talented and wouldn't be the first CFL star to find a home on an NFL roster.
Just pointing out that we have options and at some point you have to let younger guys play and get a shot.
Teams keep what....5-6 CBs on the roster?
Fuller Tolliver Skrine Shelley are already locks.
That leaves Denmark (probably will be converted to a SS IMO), Burns, Roberson, and a possible new draft pick fighting for 2 spots left.
No worries here, Pace is gonna hit a home run in the 4th round by picking up some Div 22 CB with some outlandish physical trait and plug him right in. You know, same formula that’s created our full nest of elite TE’s

LOL!
Does Northeastern Wyoming Teacher's College have a good CB prospect in this years draft?
