This is from Mayock when he was drafted: ""He was announced as a tackle, but some people like him inside at guard."
He also was an All American as a freshman in college playing right guard. So maybe that is the plan...play him inside or at worst make him the swing tackle.
I remember when a ton of people freaked over the Massie signing, and I kept saying let this play out, since he won't have to hold onto his blocks as long this might work out well for him and the Bears. And while he hasn't been great, he's been far from bad, replacement lvl which is a damn site better then the suckfest most people thought b/c of his time in AZ. I could see the same as a swing T/G position here w/this kid.
But looking at Mayock made me look up his nfl.com draft profile:
BOTTOM LINE It wasn't long ago scouts were beating up former Texas A&M tackle Cedric Ogbuehi about a disappointing season before he went 21st overall in the draft even with a torn ACL. NFL scouts see Ifedi as a guard, but a team may decide to try him at tackle before moving him inside. Ifedi has the tools and traits to become a good NFL offensive linemen if he can avoid the leaning and lunging that plagues him. A move inside combined with NFL coaching could unlock Ifedi's high ceiling.
Same thing, try him at OT, then move him inside. Seems Sea didn't want to pay him to be a OG so the Bears will give him a go.
