Excellent sign, love it. Prefer him over K, especially if K was to cost more, it makes no sense cos Danny T is just a better ILB. Who knows what tomorrow brings, progress, injuries...

Nick K is younger. Hopefully Danny T still has a few good years left in him and can stay healthy.
I understand why they made the choice they did and I hope it doesn't come back to bite us in the ass. Trevathan has only played 1 full season as a Bear and in 2 of them he only played 9 games. It's not really a "money saver" if the guy misses half the season.

I honestly thought they would let him walk for that reason. I'm hoping they can get kpl if not they will definitely need it draft one.
Don't get me wrong, I like Danny T and he is still a good player.
But......
He turns 30 this year and he hasn't exactly been that durable. He's missed substantial time several years with the team and is coming off a significant injury in 2019.
That contract isn't exactly "cheap". It's ~ $8m AAV. How much is Nick K gonna cost....maybe $9-10m? For a player who's 3+ years younger, more durable, and was a draft pick, I'm not sure saving a couple mil is gonna be a wise decision in the long-term.
I hope I'm wrong. I assume all the guaranteed money is in the 1st 2 years and the team has an out for the 3rd.
