Who called the plays Nagy's first year here? Asking for a friend.
Nagy, but in 2019 I think aliens from outer space did some kind of brain swap thing with him, the OL, Trubisky & others on offense. It could be somehow connected with the Russians I think :-)

Nagy
The rest of the league then adapted.
And Nagy didn't counter effectively.
What worked more often than not in 2018 did not work very often in 2019.
I agree poor player execution was a major problem but even Nagy himself has admitted he has work to do. He said it himself.
Yes he did, but needing to work on, and needing to give up are 2 very different things. He didnt say he needed to give up, and in fact said he is not going to.

Never said Nagy needed to give up play-calling or that he would. I really don't care as long as he "learns" like he said. He got schooled in the HC-department quite a few times last year.

No more....."BE YOU"
I want to see......"BE BETTER"
wasn't speaking about you in specifcially, just in general the sentiment that he should or had to. I don't care if it's he or someone else, whoever was calling was still going to be calling what Nagy wanted in the gameplan he set up for the week. He was brought in to fix the O, if he's gonig to fall, it's not going to be b/c someone else didn't do what he wanted.
- believing that running little Tarik up the middle on 1st & 10 is a good idea (this happened multiple times this season)
- refusing to run the damn ball (throwing the ball to Cohen instead of using Montgomery & Davis)
- incredibly unbalanced offense that sometimes looked even worse than the pass-pass-run-punt O under Fox
- his inability to adjust his scheme to the talent given to him
- way too many trick plays that always result in a loss of yards
Sorry man, but all those things have absolutely nothing to do w/ the lack of execution by the players. Is the new OC magically gonna fix everything? Of course not. But we sure have nothing to lose because it's not like we could do any worse on O.
Nagy has a LOT to prove this year, because so far he's definitely not that offensive genius that everybody in the bs media was talking about.
It's pretty obvious when people don't execute their assignment and the play fails. When an OL misses a block, the QB misses an open receiver, the TE/WR can't get separation, these are all pretty good signs it's the fault of the player's execution. Again and again last year you could see this on any game's film.
"Bad playcalling" is easily one of the lamest fan criticisms. It's pseudo-intellectual garbage that people think makes them sound smart. It's Captain Hindsight at it's worst.
And you still haven't explained who should take over the role and why that would be so much better than Nagy making the calls. And yes the O could be much worse. Change for the sake of change is stupid and often counter productive.
Is it really, though? Is it any of those things? Is it pseudo-intellectual? Is it Captain Hindsight at its worst?
I just think he was all around miserable from design to execution this year, and playcalling is one of the many things he failed at. No one is putting everything at his feet, and it’s not his fault Mitch took ten weeks to find downfield touch and struggled for his hot read all season. Playcalling was an issue just like dozens of other issues we had this season.

Could be. Just saw the episode of the original star trek where aliens stole Spock's brain. I doubt the russkies could do it though. Maybe billicheat?

+1,000
That sums it up. It's not just one thing that went wrong last season. It is 100% okay to realize this and point out the various contributing factors to a bad season. Yes, Nagy is one factor. He seems like the kind of guy who would recognize this and I'll bet he will learn from mistakes made. Same with Pace, at least I hope so. The players? They will risk being gone if they don't show improvement and this includes Trubisky. This is how it works in professional team sports. It isn't rocket science.
