Per article on Yahoo (I can post link when I get home), the Lions are aggressively trying to trade Stafford. Wow is all I can say. A lot of starting QB’s will be playing for new teams next year. It’ll be a crazy next 2 months
Teams are starting to realize that a middling qb, and the costs they ensue are a detriment to the team. Older qbs that haven't helped their teams win are going to start getting/traded instead of giving them out these contracts that further hinder the team.
Cutlers/Staffords/Rivers, and now even the younger ones Winstons Mariotta's, and unless he really steps up this year Trubisky, all getting axed rather then giving them contracts that will hamstring the team. Want a qb that is going to struggle to make a difference? Get one on a rookie contract and hope for the best, don't overpay for average.
Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't want the Bears to consider Stafford.
Lots of people call him "Stat-ford" with good reason--for a good chunk of his career he has put up really impressive yardage numbers but he simply doesn't win enough games.
Like Cutler, he has all the passer-talent you could ask for but just craps the bed too often with bad TOs (remember how he threw away the Bears-Lions game Thanksgiving 2018 with 2 awful picks?).
