This should be a win and it's a great opportunity for our offense to finally come to life. The Lions defense is a LOT worse than the Washington Redskin defense that Trubisky shined against. The Skins are 21st in defense and Lions are 31st. We scored over 30 points against the 'Skins. I can't imagine Mitch not having a great day on Sunday at home against the Lions.
I think this could be a make or break game for Mitch this season.
I think it could be a major help to him if he would have a solid game, because his confidence is looking pretty low right now. And for a QB, confidence is a big part of the game. And I think this is so doable (having a solid game for Trubs). One factor that could help is that the OL can play better than they have been playing - we've seen this group play a lot better than they have been playing. With Long out, the rest of the OL could settle down and do better. If that happens, watch the run game AND the passing game look a lot better against a VERY weak Detroit defense.
Detroit is the perfect opponent. 31st defense (LINK).
If on the other hand he doesn't do well, I don't think it can hurt him any more than he already is dealing with. Just more of the same. But he'll be better in this game than we've seen in recent weeks.

Unfortunately we have said things like that before this year.
We caught Oakland w/o Jacobs. And lost anyway. We caught NO w/o Brees or Kamara (how lucky is that!). And still lost. We stuffed Aaron Jones and held Aaron Rodgers to 1 TD and only 10 points. Couldn't beat them either. The Chargers and Eagles aren't particularly good but we found ways to lose to both. Denver sucks bad but we needed a 51 yard last second FG to eke out a win.
Detroit is a home opponent who is struggling and beat up with bad injuries. If the O craps the bed again, boy oh boy the boo-birds are gonna come out early and loud.

+1
But I think there's a good chance the OL could improve enough to bring a bit of life to the offense in this game.

I see OL recovering game by game, we're gonna be solid just in time for playoffs. True, not our playoffs, but still...
