According to some there is nothing wrong w/this great and amazing all time def, the qb the hc are the only problems on this team, do not disparage the all mighty defense w/this type of talk....
now you ruined another thread I won't read (but others are free to read it, no one accuse me of trying to say what people can or can't read) because it will soon be filled with angst ridden irrational attacks on every aspect of the team except the DEF.
Which is of course still elite, but only borne down into the depths by the pesticide that is Mitch Trubisky and his evil sidekick Nagy, along with Pace who planned this long ago in a revenge move with Sean Payton who lost his starting job as Chicago Bears QB after the strike. Its the only thing that explains Pace's draft picks, FA signings and trades. Is my tin foil hat winkled?
[brasil hopes this last statement appeases the board and he bows, scraping the ground with his forehead as he backs away.]
lol, sorry I was joking, merely snark. Obviously, much like me saying the def has issues isn't defending Trubs or the O, people complaining about Trubs and the O have to know there are issues w/ the Def. Just enjoy the snark and ingore those that take it to personal
Miles Sanders is the better back. The only thing questionable about Pederson's philosophy is not making Sanders the full time guy. I won't be surprised if Howard does well though, Philly's o-line is great and our run defense has sucked lately.

LOL, hey, I'm "guilty as charged" about the defense... I was a bit over-the-top about 'em and admit it :-)
I admit that the D has had some problems too, especially since Hicks went down to injury. And I think most here are thinking our problems on offense are due to multiple factors and not just one factor. All of us are just sad and frustrated over how the team is performing. I'm hoping the team (O and D... players and coaches) just improve over these last 9 games. I think they might. One can hope anyway. Hey, hope you had a GREAT birthday, old man :-)

Its all good, we all had better expectations for this team and this O, I guess mine were just lower then others. I didn't expect Trubs and the O to struggle like this, but I wasn't expecting them to light it up either. I did expect more from the Def; although I'm not surprised that Hicks meant this much to them; I felt he was a very under recognized person on this def w/Mack, Smith and Jackson getting most of the spotlight.
If the O was better the Def's drop off wouldn't matter much obviously, but the O is what it is, and so is the def. both deserve critism.
Now back onto Jordan. Could he have a big game, ya I mean that NO's rb ran all over this def. The question is going to be how quickly the game gets out of hand b/c I dont' think Philly is looking to allow this to be close. If it's close they'll look to pass and keep the pressure on this def. They know they can outscore this Bears O eventually, it's going to be a matter of which qtr it gets out of hand. When that happens expect a lot of carries for Howard.
He hasn't gone for 100 yards yet this season and he only went over 75 yards twice so far. I don't see him going over 75 yards this week either. Most likely in the 60-70 yard range and a TD.
He got 82 yards rushing, 1 yard receiving. He got a TD. He's still a good RB and I wish him well. No regrets going with Monty though.
I like Monty too and think he will be good.
Unfortunately, I don't think Nagy is the right HC for him or any other RB. He has zero clue of how to design and execute a running game (that's one thing Fox was actually decent at). We saw that last year with Jordan "not a good fit" Howard and we are seeing it again this year too with the RBs Nagy wanted. He barely uses Davis (remind me, why did we sign him?) and mis-uses Montgomery.
Having said all that it's pretty clear that trading Howard was a huge mistake. That was done purely to placate Nagy.
We paid a guy $2.5m to take 3 snaps a game when we could have had Howard for less than half that and reaped a comp pick for him after he left in FA. Big, big mistake.

It always was when we got a 6th round pick for a top 10 running back...

Top 10? I'm not sure if I'd put him in the top 20.

It will end up being a 5th and there isn't a world that exists where howard is a top 10 back.
