Yep. It actually hard to f*** up as bad as Parkey did to piss the fan base off that much and so quickly.
First he missed way too many kicks in the RS and was overpaid Then it came out that the reason he wasn't practicing more at Soldier Field was that "the commute was too long" Then he lost a playoff game and quite possibly cost the team a SB appearance Then pandered for sympathy in a self-serving Today show interview
Talk about exhausting your likability capital in short order!
For a lot of these guys it is just a job with a huge paycheck. And all they want to do is get paid. Unfortunately the guys like Kyle Long are the exception rather than the rule. As of now it looks like Parkey will end up in Minnesota. I expect him to do well in a domed stadium and on turf. He will have a consistent (and easy) kicking environment and may even make it back to the pro bowl.
Maybe, but he'll still have to kick in places like Green Bay and Soldier Field each year. While he could end up doing a "Robbie Gould" and improve as a kicker, I sure would not gamble on him. But if the Vikes sign him, maybe that's good for the Bears.

Lord help us if the Vikings pick him up and he proceeds to nail 90+% of his kicks at SF throughout the rest of his career. People will forget how downright bad he was and hammer Pace for letting him go.

I still haven't gotten over how he paid too much to trade up for Trubisky!!!

And how dare he give up our 1st and 2nd round picks this year for trash like Mack and Miller!

+1 Fans are fickle for sure. The Bears fans had the pitchforks out for Robbie Gould when he was crapping the bed here before we let him go. Then when he shines with the 49ers the same fans are clammering for the Bears to bring him back. LOL. But you are right, the Bears fans will want to lynch Pace if Parkey gets his game back together as Robbie did.

You're probably right. Of course most of us here who have self-respect and a work ethic would have put more effort into something that was critical to their career and craft (such as practicing FG kicks in an outdoor cold-weather city stadium). Parkey was clearly just cashing-a-check as you said and felt like he had landed a big contract and now could just coast.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Cody.
