This is why I instantly became a fan of Pace's BPA system. We had (and to a certain extent still have) such a lack of talent and depth on the roster, Pace had to draft BPA.
Even next year, if there is a stud DB, TE, RB, etc available versus a developmental QB, I can see Pace passing on the QB.
I still want us to draft a QB but we have Cutler on a year by year rental for the next 3 to 4 years so I can see why the back office and coaching staff would go for other positions.
im all for BPA all the way, BUT QB is an entirely different animal, we should draft one each year (until we hit) in the top 3, maybe 4 rounds
Ya but the gm did hit on a few...long jeffery fuller carey. Just goes to show coaches cannot "coach up" talent its either there or its not...at best they can merely put them in the right scheme.
Fuller? you would really grade Fuller as a hit? His best game was his first or second one vs 49ers...
He's still on the team as a starter, so it's something right
Bar has been set pretty low, but really the most you can ask for are guys that are capable of making the team and starting. And he has.

we sucked, we needed a rebuild and some wanted to Keep those guys from the past. I say they weren't successful and we needed a new culture. If guys are still good it won't matter. Problem is nobody wants Cutler

I agree. I would like to see us take a QB in the first 3 or 4 rounds for the next 2 or 3 year. Until we find someone to replace Cutler. Regardless if you like Jay or not, he is in his 30s and will need to be replaced sometime before the end of his current contract at the end of the 2020 season.

i guess we'll see what happens next year, his dead cap will be only 2mil, so if they want to get rid of him so badly, they could, and they have enough room to give a monster contract to 'somebody'. but who?

I don't see many Options 1: Cutler Plays good and we Keep him (prefered Option) 2: Cutler is average at best and we Keep him but draft a guy in round 2-4 3: Cutler isn't good enough to Keep him and we draft his replacement in round 1 (reach or not) 4: We do it like the Texans and sign a guy like Osweiler. Next years Osweiler would be Garopolo
I don't see us signing Brees or Cousins; I don't think Sanchez, Foles or Fitzpatrick are better than Cutler.

I agree. As much as people like to dump on Cutler (I've even seen some fools call him the worst QB in the NFL), I also think he is better than any of those you mention

Than those three def.! Besides, when Michael Bennett claims something I know its just the opposite. And to think I was all for his sign just a year or two ago
With regard to the volume of turn-over, I have to admit something to you guys. I was watching the game the other night and there were several times where I thought to myself "Man, you need to start paying attention, you don't know half these guys"!
I mean, I know the names on paper, but I was really trying to watch and pay attention and I was just lost sometimes relative to "who" I was watching. That said, I'm sure many of you experienced similar issues because Pre-season has a LOT of switching around and rotations going in and out; but I used to know about everyone on the first and second team. I guess that is another purpose of pre-season; letting the fans get tuned up as well.

All those options should include drafting a qb in the 1st 3 rds
