I think with the 2015 draft you have to cut Pace a fair amount of slack. He was redoing the scouting and personnel groups as well as getting used to be a GM. I am sure that he did some things that he regrets and wishes he had done them differently. But I feel the drafts that followed seemed to have gotten better, year by year. And improved incrementally year by year.
No matter how ready you think you are for a new role and a role with vastly greater responsibilities, you are never fully ready and you cannot envision all the issues, nuances, etc that come with it.
I am sure we will see some of the same with Nagy this year. Nagy is coming into a good situation with a GM who seems to be hitting his stride in getting players on the roster and has a solid veteran defensive staff. But he will have issues with being a HC. Maybe in overall game management (challenges, clock mgmt, etc).
Eh, happens to every team. Here's the Patriots decade long draft history (http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=3200&type=team) - that's not packed with talent OR current NFL players.
I'd say we've been pretty successful with our drafts recently. I feel like if we can get 2-3 starter - high quality backups out of a full draft (6+ picks), we're doing pretty damn good.
What saves them is the schere amount of picks. I think they average around 10 a year, so they'll miss like everyone else, but they are upping the odds of hitting on a few.
That and they also have a knack for finding good value FA talent that can fit in well with their team. They are not afraid to let big-name players walk, because they always seem to find good players at a good price.

I think the 2015 class looks good. Kevin White could very well find success this year - hopefully not too much or his contract is going to be crazy to keep - and if he does he will, at the very least, provide Pace some options for designing the 2019 receiving corp. Lots to find out in the coming weeks. Pretty exciting times.
