It sure is getting old being dead-last in the NFCN every year. I'm also getting tired of hearing how the Bears were "close" in some games, as if that makes it all okay or something. We open against the Packers. Let's see if we can win that game. If so, then we could be a good team this year. Good in terms of actually winning games.
Ya but I think they'll have a short at 3rd and an outside shot at 2nd this year. Really depends on the health of the team and the health of the others in the Norse.
A nice start would be to simply move out of dead-last place this season. It looks (to me) like the other 3 teams in the NFCN got better this off-season too. It wasn't just us getting better. If we could start gaining ground and move out of last place this year, THAT, would be a nice first step to becoming relevant again in the NFL.
That is the first step, IMHO. We are kind of like Detroit was years ago. The Lions were always the last place team. Now it's us. Gotta get out of the cellar this year. I think we have a shot at doing it. That moving out of last place would begin some momentum that the team could build on in 2019. And it would help lose some of the stench of being perennial losers here in Chicago. LOL, some teams shoot for a Super Bowl win... and here in Chicago we just hope we can move into 3rd place in our division. Baby steps, are at least SOMETHING positive.
And maybe we are even better than that this year. Too early to tell yet. But that Packers game right out of the chute would be a HUGE win. If that happens, I figure the team got a whole lot better and it's not just us fans drinking the kool aid. Anything is possible if Nagy can knock off the Packers in that 1st game. But it's a pipe dream right now.

I don't think the others got worse but its hard for them to continue to make big strides to get better. Bears were able to make those strides and should be able to compete, at least in talent of all are healthy. Biggest issue is gb and minny are years and years into their o and d systems where the bears and det are mos.

That is a great point about us and Detroit being in new systems, while GB and the Vikes are years into theirs. I think the Vikings could have a legit shot at being in the super bowl this season. They should be lethal to play against.
Why have the Bears still not addressed an edge player? A sixth-round draft pick that has had injury issues is not they most promising, although I wish Mr. Fitts the best. — @hdandy2000
You’re overlooking the fact that they signed Aaron Lynch, who has experience playing for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, in March. Right now, Lynch projects as the guy who would inherit some of the snaps that went to Pernell McPhee and other departed veterans. Let’s be real here, too, it’s not like the Bears can hop on Amazon and order an edge rusher. The pass rushers on the street right now are on the street for a reason. They’re over the hill, they’re injured, they’re not very good to start with or some combination of those factors.

Lets also not bother doing the adaquate research that people that don't get paid to do it already did on this site. Fangio doesn't really look for top end edge rushers, his def's tend to get it from a ton of different people instead of just 1 or 2. Chicago media has just gotten terribly lazy.
