Hard to disagree. Def was top 10 last year, just needed to replace some pieces that left, and in smith you easily upgraded from an aging ped suspended injured freeman.You likely have Danny Ts eventual replacement, so dont be surprised if they do it again early next year also
Then they completely overhauled the O adding more talented wrs and a talented TE. Plus improved the OG spot with a high ceiling oc.
If we combine the moves made in FA with the draft it's hard not to see the Bears as the most improved NFCN team.
The entire receiving core has been rebuilt including a top shelf #1 WR, a legit deep threat, a move TE and a rookie WR who I believe may prove to be a steal and another of those offensive talents like Howard and Cohen that Pace seems to have a knack for drafting.
I've been concerned about the OL and badly wanted Nelson to fall to us. Instead we got a guy whom I felt was the third best interior OL in round two and with the return of Long and Kush we're strong and young again across the interior where we need to be for both Howard and Trubisky's sake.
Defensively we just keep getting sneakily better and this year it began with locking up our two starting CBs and adding a good OLB/Edge Rusher in FA I feel Fangio can re-motivate. In missing out on Nelson we won by losing getting Smith instead. We missed Jerrell Freeman last year and Smith is a younger and better version of him. So once again we have a potential All Pro ILB as a trademark of our defense and Amos and Jackson have the Safety spots covered.
"Iggybooneeway", Nichols, and Fitts each fit as rookie depth at positions of need and we also added a couple of edge and DB prospects as UDFA to develop.
It's a much stronger looking team than it was a year ago both in player personnel and on the coaching staff.

No reason to not win at least win 7 games, if they stay healthy at least 9. Up to Nagy and Fang from this point on.

This is a young roster with guys who seem high-ceiling. The coaching staff, on both O and D seems to be stellar. Good things should START to happen this year. 7 to 9 wins seems reasonable, and then take another step forward in 2019. The future looks bright.

GM+QB+HC really tend to help make everything fall into place. GB/NE/PITT/NY have all had relative stability there and have all been some of the most consistent playoff teams over the last 10-20 yrs. Seems like they always find a way to be in the running.
If Pace hit on Trubs, and Nagy is as good a HC as he was an OC then you will see the Bears start to have sustained success also just like the above teams.
