Wasn't Hicks a pretty effective player on the Pats? I think a better comparison would be a player that flamed out or did nothing more than ordinary on three or more teams and then became a go to player. Those are much harder to point a finger at.

yeah, but not resigning him doesn't mean too much - especially with the Pats. If someone is over their price, they don't resign them. He played well for them so (IMO) he doesn't meet the criteria). McCown is interesting because he definitely does fit the average or below average player that bounced around a lot. He did have success though at more than one team, but continues to have up and down years (not a consistent breakout player). Not sure what to do with him. Guess he could meet the criteria. But the guy who has had his bouncing around and then broke out after is a rare find.
