I'm not sure anyone is forgetting Nicky K, but as Belliot points out, Danny T isn't exactly a guarantee to play 16 games; it's one of the reasons that losing Jones hurt so much.
It's also the reason that Edmunds is a good pick at 8, he can definitely play ILB, and could play OLB. He'd could be a starter next year at either position, and if Danny T goes down he's a starter this year at ILB.
IMO it's assumed that Nick K is the starter this year going forward, it's just a matter of who will be playing next to him all this coming year and going forward.
Reason #19 why I believe Edmunds should and WILL be our pick ^^^
And the decision there - whether to spend a high or low pick on an ILB - should be a good indicator about how much they like/trust Trevathan. Edmunds is a good pick if they feel like they have time to work with him but he's got a lot to pick up and, as @soulman has pointed out elsewhere, the education of Leo Floyd is still a work in progress with questionable results. Do we want another project player or someone that comes in with an elevated floor and a slightly lower ceiling OR do we want another risky athlete.
I'm cool with an Edmunds pick but I think it's a riskier move than a Smith and, while I like what little I've seen of Vander Esch, he's another one year wonder kid with some question marks.
Yep. Is he another Urlacher like he believes he is or another McClellin which others may see him as? I'll opt for somewhere in between but even than he's listed as an OLB or an edge guy.
Something tells me Pace would have Nelson, Edmunds and Fitz on his board ahead of Smith. But if he plays in the right defense as a Will 4-3 or a Jack 3-4 and if they can keep blockers away and let him run free I think he's gonna be very good.
I dunno, guys. I really like LVE. He looks like a very good ILB who can run with any TE while being able to rush the QB.

I don't know if he would be a starter in just one year. Sure he has many great physical gifts but what about his football instincts? Its going to take well over a year to even get him to the level we want him to be. Heck Kevin White still struggles with running routes and its been four years...
Some players get it while others don't.
Personally give me a Denzel Ward or Minkah Fitzpatrick over him any day.

Ward doesn’t have the length that Fangio typically likes. Fitzpatrick I can see but he’s likely gone by #8.
I’m also not sure the White comparison is on point either. We just struggled mightily to retain a DC widely thought of as one of the leagues best and one who had great success developing and schemeing for players very much in the mold of Edmunds.
I think you gotta trust him if he wants Edmunds. If you don’t, why did we bother to keep him?

Why would we draft Ward when we just tied up so much cap in both Amukamara and Fuller? Plus we brought Cooper back, tendered Callahan, and LeBlanc is also under contract. CB is crowded already and you don't spend a top ten pick on someone like Ward unless you plan to start him. The only possibility I see would be in the slot.
If we take a DB, which I doubt unless he's he only logical choice, is should be Fitz. Any of the other top guys would be more useful to us now than Ward.

This next month will be interesting seeing if any shifts in the top ten ranked players take place. There's always seems to be at least one guy climbing and another one or two falling.

That's about all there's left to talk about until draft day! Its gonna be a desert around here.

Ha ha, yeah that's no lie. Did you check out the Biggs Mock Draft I posted yet?

Unless a prospect get in major trouble with the law then not many shifts will be based on skill or anything football related and should be ignored in my opinion.
