I said this earlier, while the rest of us were eating up stories on a new and improved coach McDaniels, soulman did not buy it. Most of us were sold on him, thinking he was a better man after Denver. We were wrong. Soulman stuck to his guns and said he was trash. McDaniels didn't let soulman down.
Totally agree w/ you. In all fairness I never really wanted McDaniels a.k.a. McDipshit because I simply am not a fan of offensive minded coaches (but that's a different story haha) but just like most people here I also believed that he had changed over the years.
Soul was consistent and pretty much the only one on this board telling us not to trust him. Now that we've seen what kind of douche he really is I must admit I'm pretty happy w/ Nagy.
I firmly believe a team is what it's management is. I use the term management very broadly here. To include ownership, management and coaching. McDaniels thinks he is going to slip into a ready made Super Bowl machine over there and just continue the Bill Belichick legacy and build his own resume by winning many more SBs because he coaches the Patriots. BB does not win SBs because he coaches the Patriots. The Patriots win SBs because BB coaches the Patriots. McDaniels will learn that lesson soon enough.
Yep. Once Brady's career comes to an end I think there's reasonable chance that unless Belichick can bring in a QB whose his equal, like Rodgers leaving GB as unlikely as that may be, he'll decide to hang it up too and let McDaniels take charge.
I feel they had their successor to Brady in Garoppolo but with him gone they'll either needs to get as lucky as they did with Brady, and Garoppolo, and find a QB later in the draft or sink to the bottom of the well to get a top draft pick. It's that or pay through the nose for UFAs that can only hurt them cap wise in other areas. It already has somewhat.
I'm not so much predicting a massive failure for McDaniels as I am saying he isn't Belichick and he'll have a very hard time repeating the success NE has had. You can learn at the feet of a master but that alone doesn't assure success as those who succeeded legendary HCs like Halas and Lombardi learned.

You were right, Soul.
Grizz the only enjoyment I take in it was hoping to avoid a disaster like Indy had inflicted on itself by that little jerk and this article deals with that from our perspective as well. This isn't an "I told you so" deal. It's not meant to be and I hope no one takes it that way.
McDaniels is just a guy who after his debut as a HC in Denver I could never trust again and I was hoping with all my might that Pace and GMcC wouldn't buy into him either. It seems like it was damn close and had NE not been a playoff team and Nagy unavailable it may have happened. We dodged a bullet I think.

Hey not everyone else was eating up stories on McDouche. I never wanted him, not once, and never bought into the new and improved version.
Just goes to show though, if Soul and I both agree on something it's likely the correct outcome, b/c I was no fan of the Fox hiring either; never bought into the 2nd year jump that he supposedly was going to bring.

The reason that I wasn't sold on McDouche was that given the history of former Patriots coordinators falling flat on their faces elsewhere. Unlike other coaches, BB doesn't have a good coaching tree.

And that in itself is another good reason to look elsewhere especially when we consider those who've worked for Andy Reid.
personally very happy we didn't get this guy and the rumors had me worried. i get that a person can learn from failure, but the way he handled players/ owners and games in Denver would have me NEVER trusting the guy again. i hope if he's handed NE he can carry the torch BUT i doubt he will be able to get out of his own way. would you coach with this guy after what he did to his "staff" in Indy? Meanwhile, it's the defensive coaches i like in NE as i see them making due with a lot of moving parts. At some point Brady has to get credit for what he's done with so many different receiving targets.
Because we are in down time between the initial rush or FA and the draft and we can only digest so many mocks before we upchuck over whether we should draft a Punter, Long Snapper, or QB in the 6th round I thought we might revisit this and count our lucky stars Ryan Pace could see through the BS and gaming this time. Experience does help.
All I can add is harking back to my position that McDipshit was not to be trusted, had not changed since his Denver days (his type don't) and was not a good hire for us. He's the second ex-Bronco HC I've said this about but all that really means is I have experience on my side too. He was a disaster here in Denver and as it turns out a disaster hire for us as well had we not dodged a bullet.
All of the attitude, the excitement, and the synergism we see pouring out of Halas Hall would be missing. No Vic Fangio and his staff, no Mark Helfrich and Brad Childress, and surely no Harry Hiestand. I guess we can't be 100% sure about our FA acquisitions but I'd say there's a good chance none of it would have worked out quite this well.
McDisaster left a bunch of Asst. Coaches hanging for Indy to deal with and went scurrying back to Bob Kraft for a raise and some vague assurance he's eventually replace Belicheat whose no more trustworthy than he is so we'll see. Bill may tell him one thing then coach 'til he's 80. So Josh did what Josh has always done. Took care number one and screw everyone else.
Gee, what a swell guy.
it would be fitting if Belichick just never retires. Marv Levy style. I forgive Bill a lot, having met him briefly several times in Nantucket. He is a man obsessed with football and that obsession has led him to do some shady stuff just to have a chance at gaining a slight edge. He also motivates the hell out of his guys, which counts a lot in my book. He's definitely the Sith lord of the NFL, but i think his time with the Browns really made him a hard edged bastard.
I remember back to that fateful week in Apr 09 when we landed Cutler from Denver. I read that a sh**storm had prevailed where Cutler had demanded a trade over some disgraceful things Mcdipstick did. Oh well past history but it was a sign of things to come.
