This draft is really loaded and deep at CB this year. Maybe Pace figures a draft upgrade over Fuller would be very very doable in this draft. I'm not saying that is the case. Just saying it could be the thinking here. When I run that draft tool (yes I know it's just a game) based upon the player draft rankings, I often end up with the top 4 or 5 guys being CBs... or like 4 of the top 6 or 8 players being CBs. In all the years I've run that tool I've never seen that. I wish to heck we had a 3rd round draft pick this year. This is one of those years where Pace could grab a real solid starter as late as that 3rd round.
Well, I liked what I saw of Fuller. While he was not consistent, he became more so as the year went on. When he was good, he was shutdown good. Not sure how much better we will get other than more INTs. And he had some of those also.
I'm ok with what they do, but I just hate to see good talent continue to leave. We just get nowhere like that.
+1 I was hoping Fuller would be back. I'm just trying to figure out (wild guess) why they'd let him go.
No surprise at all, but it was reported the Bears offered AJ a longer term deal worth more money to stay in Chicago and he turned it down to go on a 1yr deal in Philly, so not sure how(if this is even true, again loconfora is reporting it) them not wanting to even get into a bidding war for Fuller is the same.
If you simply mean not keeping players in house, sure but AJ wasn't returning regardless and we don't know what/how Fuller feels about wanting to stay.
I know it had to hurt, but you got there.
But the reasons why arent the same...its like saying a vanilla cake with chocolate icing is the same as a chocolate cake with chocolate icing just bc both have chocolate icing.

Cb is super deep. The bears could go FA heavy for OL and in the first 2 rounds go Edge and cb(either direction) and be better off.
If Fuller is going to cost 12 to 14 mil then you could probably pay similar for a better FA CB anyways. But again this is all based on the often bad info of Jason Laconfora so itd likely much ado about nothing
He saw that the Chiefs had signed Kyle Fuller's brother and got confused.
Chicago Bears: The Kyle Fuller report is likely false and completely misleading
A media report seems to be skipping one all-important factor in the Kyle Fuller sweepstakes.
First of all, let’s cut to the chase. If you have been even the slightest bit aware of any Chicago Bears news in the last 24 hours, you would know there has been a report regarding cornerback Kyle Fuller and the speculation that his time in Chicago is done.

"Kyle Fuller is going to find a lucrative market ahead and will not be returning to Chicago."
- @jasonlacanfora
Rushing to an initial reaction is only natural for anyone to do. But, let us remember in this case, that the report came from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. There is a running joke going in the circle of Bears fans that La Canfora has really never been right on any news regarding the team in years.
This is the same guy who said it was very likely Vic Fangio winds up with the Washington Redskins in 2015, prior to him finding a home in Chicago. This is the same guy who, a year ago, said the Bears are making it their top offseason priority to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo — then with the New England Patriots.
These are just two of the most recent hit-and-miss reports from La Canfora regarding the Bears. So, with that said, don’t take this report to heart if you are a Bears fan.

Jason La Canfora saying CB Kyle Fuller won't be returning to the #Bears next year, which means you can count on the exact opposite happening.

Like I said — a running joke.
The biggest point La Canfora fails to address in all of this, though, is the fact that Chicago could choose to franchise tag Fuller. All of this uproar would be a complete waste of time and Fuller would be one of the NFL’s top paid cornerbacks for 2018. If he plays lights out, chances are he will be a Bear for years to come.
So, the real question is, why didn’t La Canfora take the franchise tag into consideration? The ball is in the Bears’ court. They hold all of the power at this point. The worst-case scenario for Fuller and the Bears is that, God forbid, he refuses to play under the tag — I wouldn’t worry about that.
Bears fans, just relax. Anytime a rumor breaks out regarding Chicago sports, it’s easy to run with it and watch all craziness break loose. It’s understandable. After all, sports are essentially a way of life in the Windy City.
However, in the case of this particular report, I would suggest addressing all of the facts first. And the fact of the matter is, there are no facts — except a report from someone who is never correct on anything related to the Bears.
Take a step back, take a breath and remember that the Bears can bring back their top cornerback if they so choose. It’s not up to Fuller, nor is it up to any rumor or media report. It’s up to those beloved Bears.
I have flip flopped on this one. I would like to see him signed to a long term contract. We have enough positions to improve. Add some performance incentives if there is still some concern on his playing.
