It's a terrific point and one that has been brought up in a good many articles this year and not just about the Bears.Few college teams are running pro set type offense and yet NFL HCs expect these kids to come in an adapt themselves to what they want to do. And because highly drafted players are being paid like starters GMs expect them to start sooner than later. Keeping a 1st round pick on the bench for 3 years like GB did with Rodgers is as passe as dial up internet yet 3 years ago we hired a HC with a lousy rep for developing young talent of all kinds for a team whose express goal was to rebuild through the draft.
Now, how dumb was that?
So now we face coaching reset number three of the post Lovie era and hopefully we have enough core talent to fit the schemes of the next HC or we'll be back to nearly scratch with the roster rebuild. When does this colossal clown show ever end?
The idea like butkus3595 said would work if the players on the team are familiar with the spread and with it used more and more in colleges the odds are becoming real great that the NFL would have to resort to this Scheme for the talent provided. A few on the boards have already said that they have been watching more and more NCAA football so money will talk. Just some pigheaded owners who like money must be able to see this.
I imagine we will start seeing more players moving via free agency much like the NFL so the game planning would have to be simplified to accommodate the turn around of personnel on the teams. Not many teams get the benefits of having stable Coaching trees so let simplify it?
We have to go with the times and maybe this could help. Now someone down in Chi-Town want to tell the McCaskey's to get their head out of their long gone Papa Bears 50's ass and bring Da Bears to the 2000's? It is time to evolve.
Then again, I am just a Whisky and Wine drink'n big balled Canuck that hates snow!
