Darnell may not even come out, especially if the Browns are thinking about him.
Trust me w/the year Darnell had, he doesn't have to worry about the Browns, or whoever is first taking him first overall. He hasn't been great by anymeans, and in big games pretty bad at times. Hell he got pulled from the ND game b/c of how bad he was playing.
Oh, I'm well aware. I'm just sharing based on what I've heard. I agree he needs another year. I'd a team wants to gamble on a possible bust, they can go Josh Allen.

Ya the best qb class ever sufffered much like last years qb class and the year before that one and so on. The young kids that looked really good their first year or so fell apart their big year. It's why I gave up on the "next years qb class" theory.
Allen, Darnell, Falk. I think Rosen is the only won that came out looking fine. I don't buy one bit the kid from Louisville, saw him play against Purdue early in the season and he ran WAY to much. He's a lot like Tebow, or RGIII, if their first look or so isn't open they look to run, didn't watch to much of him after that though.

Someone should go back through the archives and search for "wait until next year" and count the posters who argued against taking a QB. Don't need to release names, just the number would be funny. The draft is such a carp shoot anyway, pushing a decision off to next year just never makes sense. Look at the Browns. IMO they completely bought into the next year is better talk for two years running. They talked themselves out of how many QBs?

It started on the old dbs boards as far back as 2013. But ya people still talking about wait until next year bc of hoyer and barkley....sigh.

I'll make it simpler from the start and say I'm one who was against it but more so for the very reasons we're seeing now and the dangers inherent in it. I loved Trubisky and what I believed he could become. I just didn't want him understudying to play future NFL franchise QB under John Fox.
And while we're at it I wasn't in favor of signing Glennon either. I figured that if we were gonna draft a QB we'd have been better off just keeping Cutler for another year because he was cheap enough and good enough to be at least somewhat productive despite Fox.
But Fox made that impossible as well and now we sit in the last place Pace wanted us to be having to play Trubisky ahead of his time AND play him under John Fox. Fox was always more of the problem than who played QB or when we finally decided to go "all in" and draft one.
Once a QB is drafted which team drafts him will be at least as important or more so that that QBs skills. What if Cleveland had drafted Wentz in 2016 or Watson this year. Would either be doing as well as they have been? How well would Watson have fared here under Fox. The last thing Fox ever wanted was a mobile Russell Wilson kind of QB which why Carolina dumped him before they drafted Newton and also why Elway signed Manning because Tebow was never gonna work playing for John Fox.
I don't know that we can predict how any of the 2018 QB class will actually do in the NFL based on anything other than rating the skills they have to play in an NFL style offense. That's why I felt Trubisky would eventually be the best QB prospect to come out of the 2017 class.
We've seen plenty of top college QBs fail to become top starters in the NFL and we've had more than a few of them play for the Bears. Most of them didn't even have a pro level arm or if they did then like Rex and McClown they didn't have a pro level head. Two and three years out is when we'll know much like other have whether or not Mitch can be another Aaron Rodgers or somewhat less than that all the way down to just one more bad QB whom we've drafted.
