I think Kwiatowski made a couple of big plays in the short time he was in during PS and that sealed Timu's fate. Zach Zaidman said Kwiatowski really impressed the staff with a couple of plays and they think he could become an ILB for the future.
Yes, he totally surpassed my expectations for his athleticism. He moves very well.
He's one of these guys where he plays at with speed and power that exceed what their combine numbers indicate. Intuitive feel for the game, gets to the action quickly and then brings it. Fun to watch.
LB John Timu, who appeared in 7 games with 3 starts last season, is expected to sign to #Bears practice squad.
Has Timu's athleticism, or lack thereof, been discussed here? Didn't look too hard through threads.
I don't know how much it's been discussed in depth. Some of the articles posted about the cuts and the roster makeup have mentioned it though. I certainly acknowledge that he's pretty much a two down run stuffer "Mike" type LB who'll get exposed very easily is pass coverage. He's pretty much a try hard overachiever with limitations but they can be useful too. Just not as full time starters.

I believe Kwiatkoski can be a poor mans Luke Kuechly once he gets a little more time in. No doubt he's the guy they see eventually replacing Freeman at the "Mike" spot and not Timu.

That's quite a leap. I'd love for you to be right. Did you just make that shit up?

What if Freeman played at a high level for several years to come and both Timu and Kwiatowski became up-and-coming stars?
OMG, we would we do??? We would have too many good linebackers!!!! Holy Shit!!!!!!!!

I would never try to fool you!
Seriously, look at the play about 2:00 into the following clip

HUGE leap, especially considering Keuchly is one of the most athletic LBs of the decade. Polar opposites if you ask me. I would just hope Timu can become a Zach Thomas-jockstrap-holding-lite.
Sorry, I had this thread open to the same browser foreve before you corrected Timu to Kwio. Nick has a swift first step.

Maybe not. Maybe the ones sitting on the bench would bolt as soon as they are able because they were put on the bench. Don't get me wrong. Having great players is the goal. You just need people that can manage them properly and even the backups need to be paid decently. It becomes a real people management issue. A good one as long as it's done right.

Wow.... some really good film. So let me understand your post. Sometimes you are over my head. If I was poor, he would be Luke Kuechly, but if I was not poor, he would not be Luke Kuechly. Right?
